I suspect a lot of rebuilding teams will be looking at us as an example of how to do it right over the next few years. But it’s easier said than done, we really seem to have nailed all our decisions ever since Sheila took over.
Mmmm, thats some good copium
There’s a little luck involved too. How would we look if The Jags took Hutch and Amon Ra was drafted earlier
What if Stafford had never asked to be traded?
We wouldn’t have the Goff/Johnson kizmet. We got a ton of draft capital from that trade and had some fortunate turns of events in the draft. A five year rebuild took three.
But also, as they say, you make your own luck
I feel like one of these teams is not like the other.
The problem is that their owner is awful, their GM is a Patriot Way guy, and their head coach is simply a placeholder for Bill O’Brien. They also have an overpaid, currently injured, underachieving franchise QB who their prior regime gave a ridiculous contract to and they want to trade, but can’t.
What if the Cardinals took DK Metcalf instead of Andy Isabella
That’s another problem. Their prior GM, Keim (who was not technically ever fired) was best friends with their owner and was the opposite of Holmes when it came to scouting / drafting / roster construction. They were semi competative because they had Buddha Baker and kept overpaying for washed up veterans who were on their final contracts and about to retire. They also fleeced Houston to get Hopkins (who Houston wanted nothing to do with anymore).
that’s the biggest issue. our headcoach went through the heartaches, you can’t just switich coaches, you need to establish the culture first. Dan’s biggest accomplishment might be not losing the team in year 1 or early year 2.
