I wish “OK-you-dah” receiver so I’ll let you catch the ball and tackle you, was this fast.
I like Erik Schlitt. He’s now chief editor at POD I believe. Big data guy
Fast is one thing. When you don’t have good tech, or get manhandled, or bite on double moves, fast is less relevant. It helps erase mistakes, true, but not all ofthem.
That said I have done zero scouting. If he has great coverage skills or is a ballhawk and has 4.24…well then we’re talking Deion-ish.
Still would pass, sorry.

As I’ve already stated. I think he’s close. He was always considered to be one of the fastest guys in the draft class… I admit there are always variations from surface to surface but those variations aren’t more than a few tenths usually.
Normal? … no … but we had 8 last year alone and so far two this year at 4.39. I don’t think those numbers are far fetched or unbelievable.
I also don’t feel 3 players running below a 4.4 makes this the fastest class in history like you claimed … especially when we had 10 last year alone. Which was the point we were discussing and I was disagreeing with.
He was supposedly lazer timed using the same electronic equipment used at the official NFL combine. Running on the same surface.
Sure you can manipulate the situation and surfaces always vary. But in context… he was considered one of the fastest coming out of this class before he even ran.
I’m hoping we can get him to run at his pro day too and see how close he runs there.
He was the 1st or 2nd ranked CB in this class before he ran this 40. The guy can play.
You seemed pretty adamant that it was the same surface and same timing mechanism. To you it may be “just a few tenths,” but to me its the difference between being fast and having world class speed and one of the fastest players in history.
Sub 4.3, at the combine. When a guy runs a sub 4.3 that is extremely rare. Sub 4.3 is a bit of a “unicorn,” which you tried to paint as something that wasn’t.
And here you are right back on this talking point. So you agree with Caleb frickin Farley has world class speed and is one of the fastest players in history? Just LOL.
I don’t know, I’m not on the board all that much. I don’t keep tabs on what everyone posts. I like the kid from what I’ve read, and I think he has to be in the mix. But I’m not a “pro YouTube scout” nor do I want to be so I support whomever the staff chooses.

Here’s a hint: this is the most he’s been discussed. Imagine that.
Is that related to his speed tho, or his position I wonder? I know taking a CB so early after taking one so early last year would bring shades of Millen’s WR years - but I’d be open to it if the FO felt he was THAT good (I personally don’t know)

The reality is the same either way. He’s a guy that’s barely been mentioned up until now.

He’s been mentioned. This just happens to be the first thread started about him.
Farley has been considered a top 10 potential for some time. I think the needs at QB push him down most mocks.
Dan Campbell mentioned CB as a need today in his press conference by the way. It sounds like both Trufant and Coleman will be cut.
I think the fact that we drafted Okudah at 3OA last year has most Lions fans looking away from CB talk.
Once Trufant and Coleman are cut CB talk will heat up on the board.

Between Okudah being drafted last year and the current appearance of the CB depth chart, I get that fans aren’t clamoring for a CB right now. But if Trufant and Coleman are cut it’s going to look a lot like Okudah, Amari and nothing. Sort of like Golladay, Cepheus and nothing at the WR position that everyone agrees is a major need. Clearly Dan Campbell agreed.
Except we don’t have Golladay.
Except we don’t have Golladay
My point was that even if the Lions retain Golladay most people know WR is still a need, and an option at #7. I don’t see CB a whole lot different. In fact it may be worse because Golladay is certainly better, now at least, than Okudah.
If Holmes feels like Farley is the best player available he needs to draft him. I wouldn’t base ANY of my roster decisions on anything Quinn did, including Okudah.
Here’s what I believe, if Holmes were to select Farley, it means that he believes that as a football player, Farley is the best option to be a game changer for the Detroit Lions. It’s well documented that Holmes favors watching game tape in his final evaluation, and is well aware of the dangers of falling for someone (Greg Robinson cough) based on the Underwear Olympics . Maybe Farley is in the conversation, maybe he’s not, but I believe his 40 time will have a miniscule impact on Holmes evaluation.
Am I the only one that sees that the athletes are training at “Exos” and imagines the athletes getting their 40 times down via intense hugs and kisses training? I probably am.
I just see it as athletes being taught how to start. My guess is that is where most of the time is gained or lost.
There’ll be some top end gain from training, but master starting and you should be golden.
Is so, I hope he’s a plug and play guy. Also, i hope he would give us more then what okudah provided his first year
