Last year’s Washington would beat the crap out of the second best team this year (Texas?). They DID beat Texas last year when they were arguably a better team, and they also beat Texas the year before that which people forget.

I think overall last years group is better than this years. OSU fits last years group but I think the defenses from last year are better.

I would be pretty shocked at this point if he goes high. Yes, the tools, but Willis had the tools too. And Milroe is about as advanced as a passer as Willis was, both mentally and physically. I think the current bombing of the AR experience hurts him too, and I thought AR was much more advanced than Milroe is. We’ll see, like you say it only takes one, but I’d be pretty surprised.
I would too but I don’t think the first round is out of the question. I fully expect him to have plenty of suitors early second. In fact it wouldn’t shock me if say the Giants went Hunter with the idea they come back around to Milroe in the 2nd. Especially if DaBoll is still there.
I could definitely see late 1st, early 2nd as a ceiling, it’s just the top 10 I can’t get behind. Though I think it would be a team like the Rams, who have time to sit him and a staff that will be around awhile. Maybe the Seahawks. Steelers would be another good spot.
The only team I could really see being interested early is Cleveland, who probably needs a rookie option as their alternate to Watson since they can’t afford to pay an FA, and where Berry and Stefanski should be around for awhile. Plus he has the arm to deal with the weather. I’d worry he’d get rushed into playing there, which they may not want to do, but probably would anyway.
I could definitely see DaBoll thinking he could follow the Allen arc with him. I think DaBoll’s preference for job security is a good veteran starter but easier said then done.
So if OSU wins the Natty does that require a Michigan asterisk?

Right my main concern re: the Giants is the vulnerability of the staff. The rumors were such that I thought at least Daboll was more likely to be fired this offseason, though those have quieted after this past week. And if they knock off Philly’s B team he’ll probably survive. On the flip side if they lose to Philly’s B team…
I also think asking Milroe to hit the ground running is begging for failure, and seeing as both Daboll and Schoen need to save their jobs, drafting him might be foolish.
I have to give the nod to this year. So many preconceptions have been blown away already. If this was the BCS back in the day, it would have been Oregon vs Georgia. Four is better, but who is to say if that would have actually been the Final Four after a playoff like this. This four earned it the hard way so there is zero question if they are deserving.
I think the rosters top to bottom were better last year on both sides of the ball.
I would also question PSU having a tough road to this point.
I thought Alabama had one of their weaker playoff teams in the Saban era. Maybe the weakest. Michigan was definitely peaking but didn’t have the sort of dominant offenses we’ve seen in the past playoffs. Fantastic D though. Reminded me a little of OSU 2003.
Its fun to think about. You can compare the final four but honestly, a lot of “great rosters” have already bowed out. Oregon, UGA etc. Whose to say that wouldn’t have happened last year too? Teams like UGA, Ohio State, and Missouri were all capable of knocking some of those teams off.

I was more looking at it in a vacuum not 12 team rd to final 4 vs 4team as obviously anything can happen in a bigger playoff format.

Which is why I was excited about the NIL, instead of it just being 8 teams that can win it all, now it’s more like 30. Just didn’t realize how much of a sh*t show the transfer portal would become
Well, if UM is truly all in on NIL God help the rest of CFB as UM hs one of the deepest wealthiest alumni bases of any and all cfb programs.
