SMU struggled against Clemson lol.
Yeah, Clemson is no Vanderbilt, thats for sure.
who did bama beat several weeks ago prior to the lost to vandy? Besides, Vandy wasn’t a scrub. SMU schedule was trash. what top teams did they play in the conference?
Louisville is good, would be an above-average team in the SEC. Just crushed Kentucky 41-14 in fact. Should have beat Notre Dame too.
True, the scrub loss was Oklahoma
That would be the most epic thing that ever happened in college football.
They would be talking about it 200 years from now.
They were undefeated….how were they borderline??

Vandy is a 6-6 team….they were not as good as Clemson or SMU
LOL average Ohio State moment in 2024.
Ryan Day LITERALLY cannot get fired fast enough
Cause Michigan is donating to keep him employed.
Looking forward to him stealing defeat from the jaws of victory once again with a real close loss.
Watching the Ryan Day Buckeyes in big games literally reminds me of watching the 2010s Lions in big games.
Ryan Day LITERALLY cannot get fired fast enough
Interesting thought
Do we really think his head is on the chopping block?
Also would making the final game end the assault on Day?
It is an interesting thing to watch.
Also who would you even look to hire? Could this be a place that Brian Kelly jumps to?
Kelly can coach and win. But maybe his roster building needs some help. Which OSU seems to have that on lockdown
Do we really think his head is on the chopping block?
No, he’s not, because our soft boosters are afraid of paying his buyout.
I guess we only need to lose to Michigan 6 or 7 more times before they get their collective head out of their ass.

Making the final game and winning it are completely different. That’s the first thing. But even if he wins it…he only would’ve gotten there because of this new format we have now. If he makes it and loses in classic Ryan Day fashion, the outrage is going to be very similar to what it is now IMO.
Now, I see that as very unlikely. In the post-Fields era of Ohio State football, we have only lifted one trophy of any kind, and it was in a meaningless Rose Bowl game where we almost (and probably should have) lost to Utah. Until that changes, I don’t see him winning a big game.
Also who would you even look to hire? Could this be a place that Brian Kelly jumps to?
Oh HELL no!!
My #1 target would be Georgia DC Glenn Schumann. Just look at the best coaches in the country today and where they came directly from:
- Kirby Smart → Alabama DC
- Dan Lanning → Georgia DC
- Steve Sarkisian → Alabama OC
If you want to get on that level, then there’s clearly a blueprint.
Hiring someone like Kelly is just BEGGING to stay mediocre.
We need a bonafide SEC guy IMO, and I’d consider Oregon to now be an extension of the SEC. For all the talk about how Urban’s Ohio State used to be an extension of the SEC in the B1G, Ryan Day’s OSU is very much built like a B1G team.
Yea, not sure that Lanning makes Oregon an extension of the SEC
At this point they need to stop worrying about conferences and strength of schedule and adopt an NFL model for the playoffs. This is too subjective and leaves too much room for opinion.
Too logical…they love the national discourse and drives up hype around games.
