It was subtle, but once you noticed it…
Yeah but he has a cool story to tell the Dr, Nurses and everyone else.
Doc - How did you get injured?
It’s a football injury. Happened in the Saint, Lions game on 3rd down. The RB swept wide and ended up taking my knee out.
Doc - takes a look at the kid wondering this kid plays professionally?
Subtle???
The dude was laying there screaming in pain and his left leg was no longer pointed in the proper direction…I was like WTH just happened and also looked away. They showed a replay and I covered my ears and closed my eyes. It haunts me…
I only saw it in my peripheral vision, tbh
Then I was like, hell no, I’m gonna go take a piss
It felt like they stayed on him for 5 minutes.
But I am sure the camera guys was also a bit spellbound. Like what is happening…why is he making that face…wait his leg…oh my goodness…look away look away…oh no camera look away now…shut it down…shut it all down
I was thinking about the impact on the game too.
That injury looked brutal. The guy looked older and I can see where it
Could leave people a little shook.
Before then lions were pretty dialed in
And the injury needed a long time out.
There’s some big bodies flying around the sideline. I think this is the 3rd or 4th collision I’ve seen this year.
To be honest, surprised that there isn’t more of this with those crowded sidelines. Can’t remember who played, but last year a security guard received two cracked vertebra. He’s payed to watch the stands at all times. He never saw it coming.
It is possible to die from a traumatic knee dislocation.
Servere damage to the politeal artery can cause cardiovascular collape and then cardiac arrest.
In addition to possible (though rare) deaths… nerve damage and vascular damage can absolutely land a player in ICU from a dislocated knee. Compartment syndrome may be another complication from such a traumatic injury… which requires a surgeon to cut the fascia covering muscles in the area to keep the swelling from restricting blood flow… and prevents additional tissue damage. Significant vascular damage may possibly require amputation at the knee if propeer bloodflow is not regained during emergency surgery.
Zach Miller of the Bears dislocated his knee in the same building we saw this happen this weekend. He needed emergency surgery to save his leg…. and probably his life.
His leg was still numb 4 years later.
Yeah that looked awful.
Doc - “How did you get injured?”
Guy - “Do you remember when Dan Campbell said his team was taking out knee caps?”
A good update
“Stable condition”???
Did anyone expect him to be in critical condition from a broken leg?
Damage the femoral artery and you’ll be critical real fast.
