Chauncey Gardner-Johnson a Lion!

Well shit, with all these DB’s might as well do this…

Before this flurry of signings, I was thinking DL and then hopefully Deonte Banks at #18. That still looks good to me.

Brad has a lot of room to maneuver, which might even include trading down for future draft picks. That seemed unlikely a few days ago. But I’m several light years behind Da Villian.

Can he play DT?

But we won’t get a CB in the first round. You can scratch that off. CB room is stacked this year we can get one in the second or even at 81.

That’s what I would think too.

This is the closest I’ve seen the Lions going into a draft with the ability to do anything they damn well want.

Before any free agency or tampering period started I told my buddies at work that this is the first offseason where I can actually say I don’t care what they do. Simply because I have full trust in what the front office does.

This just puts a certified stamp on it for me.
Literally going into a draft and feeling comfortable with whoever they take. It’s amazing, and completely uncharted for Lions fans.

Since Brad has been fulfilling my offseason fantasies so far I’m going to predict that we exchange one of our first rounders for a 2024 first rounder plus …

This is what I’m hoping for too. Gives us even more cap room + future versatility to move up if need be.

My prediction for what next steps Brad Holmes will take.

  • Trade up to 3 and take Will Anderson
  • Trade up to 3 and take Anthony Richardson
  • Stay at 6 and take Jalen Carter
  • if Jalen Carter is gone, and Richardson trade back

I’m just as happy as anyone else, but i’m a little confused by it all. Only Sutton has a longer term deal. The 30 other guys are 1 season rentals. Which includes Okudah, and I think Jacobs. I get it, whoever plays their arses off I’m sure will get an extension. That is, whoever wants to stay because he/they will want bigger contracts.

The other thing is that for the exception of Mosley, who still has to get healthy, and still has to prove he’s a good CB, every single one of these guys are best inside or at nickel. Sutton has been primarily a nickel guy. An inside/outside CB. CJGJ is a nickel/safety. Okudah was great inside. Jacobs is pretty much the same. A lot of us has said that’s their best fit. Will Harris is a nickel guy. The long ball was the problem.

It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out. It’s pretty damn exciting to be stacked like this.

I think the belief with the one-year-deals is to keep our options open, but at the same time give us a major leg up on keeping them if that’s what we want. It’s a test drive, more or less, for both the player and the team. I wouldn’t be surprised if we re-signed someone midseason if he was crushing it.

Actually 80% of his snaps came on the outside 20% in the slot

OK, thats good to know, but still. Like I said, he’s an inside/outside guy. we’re definitely stacked at nickel for sure…lol. Do they plan on switching to a cover-2 with DB’s blitzing?

Can we stack at DT/DL now? As exciting as all these DB’s are, I’d wet my pants if this was the case for DL.

I think we’re very appealing to prove it DBs. Playing time is clearly there. The DC is a former defensive back. We have a player’s coach. In the case of Chauncey he knew both. Pass rush started to really come on. It’s a promising setup if you need to perform.

Haha! I"m with ya, man.

Is that going to be easy? How robust is the Will Levis market?

I think Jeff might be out of here

The one year deal you can do that when you’re building a top class culture and family. Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell know when they come here and play and fight and see this culture I promise they’ll wanna stay and sign a new contract.
