Clowney released

Great fit with us physically, not sure he checks the character boxes though.

Von miller, zadarius, clowney… any other options out there for a rotational piece?

Apparently he is dumb as rocks. He gets reverses run to his side more then any other de…bc he always overcomitts and is out of position…he has never learned to read the offense and contain.

Clowney, 32, registered 5.5 sacks with Carolina IN 2024.

Yeah I’ve always argued against him coming here, but that was when he actually cost something. I assume now he’d be dirt cheap and we could move on pretty easily if it doesn’t work out.

I wanted him last year instead of Davenport

Some say he is a semi turd tho

Sooo idk :man_shrugging:

I don’t think he’s a turd, I just don’t know how much he loves the game. That’s a big no-no for us, as you know.

Nothing an ol low salary high incentive contract can’t fix !

1 year deal …until we can figure out a trade for Trey

Interesting timing to release a vet in May.:thinking:

I’ve always been anti-Clowney due to the cost, but he’s got to be cheap enough at this point that I wouldn’t hate a punt. Like I said I don’t think he’s a bad guy or anything. I’d still prefer Z’Darius since he’s a much better personality fit though.

Due to the draft, they added quite a few edge rushers.

Hutch, Clowney, Davenport, Z’Darius

Now we’re talking baby

Yea maybe he asked to be released after seeing the draft. I mean if I was a vet I sure wouldn’t want to end my career in Carolina winning 5 games per season.

Pretty sure it wouldn’t be both Clowney AND Z’Darius.

Too bad Paschal couldn’t be our Tracy, he kinda built like him

I want move Paschal inside and be a straight Cory Redding

Pretty sure you can pen in Paschal as our Edge 4 with Muhammad pushing him and Hassanein getting a few snaps (IF Z’Darius or Clowney are Edge 3), no matter how much you don’t like it lol. Good vets won’t sign here to be much lower, so it’s usually journeyman vets and youngsters who fill those spots.

Like here are some other 4-man edge units:

Washington: Clelin Ferrell, Dorace Armstrong, Deatrich Wise, Jacob Martin
Tampa: Yaya Diaby, Haason Reddick, Chris Braswell, Anthony Nelson
SF: Nick Bosa, Mykel Williams, Robert Beal, Yetur Gross-Matos
Seattle: DeMarcus Lawrence, Boye Mafe, Derick Hall, Uchenna Nwosu
Philly: Nolan Smith, Bryce Huff, Jalyx Hunt, Azeez Ojulari
GB: Rashan Gary, Lukas Van Ness, Kingsley Enagbare, Barryn Sorrell
Houston: Will Anderson, Danielle Hunter, Darrell Taylor, Derrick Barnett
Minny: Jonathan Greenard, Andrew Van Ginkel, Dallas Turner, Bo Richter
Denver: Nik Bonitto, Jonathan Cooper, Jonah Ellis, Dondrea Tillman
Raiders: Maxx Crosby, Malcolm Koonce, Tyree Wilson, Charles Snowden
Jets: Will McDonald, Jermain Johnson, Michael Clemons, Eric Watts
Rams: Jared Verse, Byron Young, Josaiah Stewart, Nick Hampton
Dallas: Micah Parsons, Dante Fowler, Donovan Ezeiruaku, Marshawn Kneeland
Chicago: Montez Sweat, Dayo Odeyingbo, Shemar Turner, Daniel Hardy

Hutch, Davenport, Z’Darius, Paschal is right in line with all of those (I bet there’s plenty of those edge 4s you don’t even recognzie). Some are a little better, some are a little worse, but those are NFL edge groupings these days. Very few of them are crazy deep, ours just FEELS worse because of what happened to us last year. Even Hutch, Davenport, Paschal and Muhammad is better than a decent chunk of those. Very few can match Hutch at the top.

Paschal just isnt a good DE at all.

Hutch coming back from injury

Davenport always coming off injury

There is a definite need there.

And as much as I like Hassanein… I’d prefer to give him a redshirt year while we make a run

One of my all time favorite hits. Still remember watching this game.
