Clowney released

Clowney would make a good run at double digits sacks for the first time if he came to Detroit. Hasn’t lived up to his draft status but has had a good career.

He has had 4 seasons with at least 9 sacks… 58 in his career. Not a star but has still had a good career.

I haven’t heard anything negative about him (bad teammate). Just changes teams every 2 years. $$$ chaser? Paid gunslinger type?

He tore the meniscus in his knee that covers the end of the femur as a rookie, which can cause more concern about long-term issues with a “bone on bone” situation.

Clowney had microfracture surgery, which has helped some players end up playing quite a while… but some guys only last a few years after an injury like that one… or never regain their ability to play at a high level (Terrell Davis).

I would definitely suspect that kept teams from considering any kind of long-term deal that included enough guaranteed money to be appealing to Clowney… so he has pretty much had to chase 1 or 2 year deals since his rookie contract ended.

To his credit… Clowney has played in 12 or more games in 9 of the 10 seasons since his surgery.

Isacc Tessla was participating in Mini camp !

The Browns literally benched him and let him walk for being a bad teammate. Clowney’s name has always been bigger than his game since he got to the NFL. The guy peaked in college. He mailed it in his final year in college and has been a spotty player ever since. Teams constantly want to believe in him. But once they have seen him up close and what he’s actually bringing to the table, they move on.

The Ravens are the only team that got Clowney for what he is really worth. They paid $4.5M for the season. Every other team has paid $10M+ for his services, and he’s not worth it. The Seahawks paid a little less out of their own pocket because the Texans paid half of his salary to get rid of him. That’s who Jadeveon Clowney is.

And got 9.5 sacks for 4.5 mill. I’d do that in a heartbeat. If Dan Campbell signed off of course.

Its the only time he’s ever signed for that low of a contract. But its what he is actually worth. After he blew up his reputation in Cleveland, teams didn’t want him. He went to the Ravens on a “prove it” deal. They are the only ones that got real value for their money for Clowney. After the season, the Ravens were not very interested in having him back…regardless of the perceived production. He is simply not worth a higher asking price. The Panthers were happy to sign him to a 2-year deal. Now 1 year into that 2-year deal, they have moved on as well.

Yea I get all that… That’s why I support a cheap 1 year deal like the Ravens.

I bet he doesn’t dress as snazzy as former teammate Devin Taylor.

Be thankful you haven’t been dealing with what he’s been dealing with, while trying to keep an NFL job. Some things don’t show in the stats.
That’s one of the toughest men in the NFL. I pray things settle down for him.

I am thankful. I’m not saying he’s a bad guy or he is not a warrior.

I would move him inside to 3T like Cory Redding

That was my stance all along with him.
