Iāve been saying that he would be the guard/tackle swing for 2 months.
He played tackle at a very high level at William and Mary.
Heāll be fine at RT or RG in the NFL. He just needs to adjust to the speed of the game.
The Lions adjusted to help Sorsdal they used TE an RB to chip to help him He did ok over all for limited practice time at OT
With Nelson out an Skipper likely limited with sore hammy. Its expected Decker will be back so to start OT is ok. I remember some posters wanting to trade decker this past year an wanting to let him walk when contract is up. Maybe now you will see the value of having a very good OT an always look to add more.
I would an hope Lions start to give more work to rookie OT from camp who we kept on PS Galvin Connor
I am guessing you were not a part of the back and forth ādebates.ā The concept wasnāt about letting Decker walk at the end of his contract. It was about trading Decker immediately (or in Sewellās 2nd season) because RTs are cheap and its stupid to take a RT in the top 10 of the draft.
Just wanted to bring up the fact that we also have OT Max Pircher on the PS, and while there is a perception that he is simply a free body on the practice squad roster, thereās also an article out there from the Rams that describes him as a plus prospect that they allowed to get away. By all accounts, heās a very good athlete who has spent the past several years developing as a Tackle. Just a little nugget to keep in mind. Galvin or Pircher could both be elevated from the Practice Squad, so there are additional options.
Yeah he has had ~4 years to develop on the Rams and Lions. Hasnāt sniffed the field yet so I wonder if there is anything there.
We shall see soon if the Lions elevate or find another free agent out there.
I was surprised to see skipper because he was on the team last year but didnāt make the practice squad so it felt like the lions were scraping the bottom of the barrel as it was.
