Colby Sorsdal

Had a rough go of it to start but maybe started to settle in. Who on this forum are the Oline experts and any worries about him likely starting at RT on Thursday.

I know they had him at OG but was forced into duty at RT.

It’s my understanding that Atlanta’s defensive line has a bunch of killers. Is that right? My hope is that our struggles were more related to their talent and them taking advantage of us being short-handed. Not sure how GB’s line stacks up against the Falcons.

I’ll say this, if they trot out Sorsdal at RT and the Packers Defensive Coordinator doesn’t throw the kitchen sink at him, I’ll be shocked. I’m sure Atlanta made a couple adjustments, but they didn’t have a few practices to dial up some exotic blitz packages

GBs DL is dangerous. Gary just had 3 sacks yesterday. Really hope we get Decker back.

Plenty - Sewell struggled at LT he had several penalties too. I’d put him back at RT and start your best option at LT and put Wright next to the LT to help him all game.

Skipper is probably a better option right now.

Yeah GB can apply plenty of pressure that defense is severely underrated around here. They have a pretty good defense.

I think what is underrated is Decker’s importance. He doesn’t get the glam others do but he is really important. The last time Sewell played LT it wasn’t pretty so I was pretty apprehensive about this go round, and sure enough. Some guys just are better at one position that the other. There is no shame in being a great RT.

Detroit Lions OL Colby Sorsdal got ‘welcome’ to NFL from pass rusher he grew up watching

Agree.

Decker Appreciation week. He’s been very solid for a long time now.

The best was when we drafted Sewell, the den had several trade Decker threads. Now most were against it, but some fans thought that was a great idea.

You’d have to think that Sorsdal being drafted has a better athletic profile than oversized Skipper.

I too would love a breakdown on his play and if can hold the position for a game or two that speaks extremely well on his future to help this team for years.

Yea we don’t want Sorsdal on the field this year. He has spent the entire offseason being worked at guard and he got thrown into the fray at RT and playing tackle at a small school is not comparable to the NFL. He looked rough, really rough to start…but that is expected…and then he got a little better…don’t get it twisted though…you don’t want him playing and Decker can’t get back soon enough. Future bright…excited about the next year with him…this year you want him on the bench.

What sucks is Matt Nelson was actually holding his own. Played decent vs the Hawks. The Lions and O-linemen, we sure go through them fast,

Skipper went from on the couch, to being in the starting lineup within 3 days. And then he last about 5 plays before he was hurt.

This. And they are getting Alexander back it looks like. We need Decker back this week…and I have a hunch it might happen. Complete guess on my part…but I think the lions were being strategic with him and DMON.

Re-watched the game and was content with his performance, being thrown to the wolves at a different position. He proved a lot to me.

That was when we thought we were missing out on Hutch and we were debating who to take. I was one of the ones pushing for Ekwonu as a guy who we could plug in at guard. I think with Goff you always want to keep an eye on the o-line as his play is greatly impacted by it. I think with Decker it was more about letting him walk at the end of his contract than trading him. But as we all know, just because you draft a guy high doesn’t mean he’s going to make it. Just ask the Bears.

Skipper has a ton of playing experience and as a short term option I think he’s the better option right now.

Long term Sorsdal has more upside. The Lions like to bring in projects and unfortunately none have stuck so far. Hopefully Sorsdal changes that.

I haven’t broke down the film from the game yet and I won’t have time this week but watching him live and Skipper I thought at first glance Skipper played better.

Perhaps, but he got hurt already too. That’s the only reason Sorsdal was playing because Nelson and Skipper couldn’t make it more than a quarter each.

The only current healthy tackle is Sewell.

Sorsdal has barely even taken any right tackle reps in training camp. We were in desperation mode yesterday. If Sorsdal would have gone down, good chance a TE would have been playing tackle.
