College football needs to change.
I think we all know change is coming.
But with the 12 team playoff,
Transfer portal.
Multi million NIL deals
And now profit sharing.
It’s become more and more clear theres only a hand full of teams that will ever win the championship. So why keep them with the other 100+ teams.
The top 32 teams in college football are
the only ones ever ranked in the top 10 at the end of the year.
-The only ones ever competing for the conference championship.
make over (or close to it) $100m in revenue from football
make over (ish) $200m for their athletic department
spend WELL over $1m annually in NIL.
receive over $20m annually from donors
and the only ones consistently sending players into the first round of the NFL draft.
So why keep the other 100+ schools of D1 FBS in the same league? Theres no way ever that a team like Central Michigan, Vanderbilt, hell even Purdue or Minnesota will EVER win the championship.
So heres my idea, the top 32 make their own division. A step above FBS. But it’s just 1 conference. So they all have the same rules, schedule ect.
Yes some “bigger” names. But there are those teams that are just middle of the pack. Bowl eligible most years. But never really do anything or dont have any money to get better.
Always been my dream. Based on performance, there can be 1-4 teams who move up. Those teams are cleared from moving back down for two seasons. Makes the lower league worth watching. Makes the crap teams in the top league fight for thier D1 rights at the end of the season.
I’d like to do this with the old school conferences. Like the winner of the old MaC is guaranteed to move to Big ten.
Boise deserved a sho tor two at thepac12 back in the mid 2000’s.
Ah, he has essentially purchased a lifetime spot in the top division. That said, his friends come and go pretty quickly. Most of them get arrested, which is one step down from relegations. You drop two leagues.

So sure Ol Miss has a slight edge in NIL and NFL player.
MSU destroyed them on field performance the last 25 years.
Ol miss is good. But they have never been great.
I mean only 1 Conference top 2 finish in the last 25 years. And not a single Con Title. I get it Georgia, LSU and Alabama have dominated the SEC for the better part of 30 years but come on.
MSU stood out on his list that wasnt a good team and hasnt been. I like MSU but do I think they should be apart of the 32?..idk, juat doesn’t seem like they should be on that list.
