There are already a number of suitors interested in acquiring Taylor. According to Schefter and Rapoport, the Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks are among the teams who have inquired.
The Vikings are the second-worst 6-0 team by DVOA this century. If they want to throw away resources for an all-in attempt, be my guest. That luck won’t hold.
Vikings know they’re about to go on a three-game losing streak and they’re going to try to get in the middle of that. Who really should get into that is Denver. Taylor needs to stay in the AFC
That said, very small sample size overall, and there have been cases where it didn’t work as well (Etienne got just a bit less than Ken Walker and the same as Saquon and hasn’t done anything, LeVeon, Melvin Gordon to Denver, DeMarco Murray by Philly, etc…)
It has worked out more than it hasn’t of late, but again, very tiny sample size.
Yeah but that’s hindsight. Murray’s contract was the largest one ever for a RB at the time. Etienne got paid as much as Saquon and almost as much as Walker. And on that list only Barkley and Marshawn went on to win Super Bowls with the teams who paid up for them.
And I’m not saying it’s a bad idea in general, I’m just saying all of these examples are just sample size issues. The next five may do nothing for their new teams. I think the reason it tends to work out is because RB is often a “final piece” maneuver, so they’re already going to really good teams.
Which, I don’t think Minnesota is. They’re a 4-3 team masquerading as a 6-0 team. I’d be more than shocked if a team QB’d by Kyler Murray ever won a Super Bowl. He’s a talented guy, he just doesn’t give enough of af
