Former Lions player.
Every time I see a post of a former player from the “bad times” the Lions had, it just makes me realize how bad we were at developing players.
Haha. There’s been a few like Lucas where I’ve thought “this guy clearly isn’t NFL quality” and then they go on to spend another 5 years in the league.
That’s one thing I really love about this staff, is the patience and determination they have to develop players. They could have given up on Iffy and Barnes after two years, but no. They could have given up on Jamo too. In all the cases the patience is being rewarded.
I expect to see that patience rewarded with Levi, Martin and Gilmore this coming season as well.
If I remember correctly he became the first un-drafted rookie to start at LT in the history of the NFL and I commented how this was an obvious sign of the complete ineptitude of the Lions front office. This was met with some very angry opposition at the time.
Looking back, maybe both sides were right and wrong.
