Cook just officially released by Vikings

Does Florio even have another type of reaction?

Yea it was pretty obvious this was coming. Just making too much money to trade. On the other hand, getting Cook a short term deal could be a steal for a team. He has 4 straight 1000 yard seasons and has averaged 11-12TDā€™s per season.

The Vikes will be lucky to win 8 games next year.

I think itā€™s pretty crazy the way some drink the Kool aid. The Vikings won 13 games last year. I think we can take the division but itā€™s going to be a fight. They are pretty darn explosive offensively even without cook. They added Addison at wr, And they hired an incredibly good defensive coordinator in Brian Flores. They have brought in a lot on defense (m. Davenport, H. Philips, B. Murphy). They have some young talent on the backend (booth, evans, cine)They could get a lot better on that side of the ball. We can do itā€¦ but we shouldnā€™t be the odds on favorite

Not too sure on that one. Heā€™s got a resume very similar to Coach Patriciaā€™s. Coached defense under BB, Flores was never officially the DC in New England, although Iā€™d heard BB trusted him enough to let him call plays. Very hard to evaluate these guys working under BB, since heā€™s such a defensive genius and is holding their hands. Now, maybe Flores turns out to be great running his own defense, itā€™s possible, but we have seen former Pats coaches struggle almost everywhere they go.

Wasnā€™t that in the book ā€œThe Art of War?ā€
ā€œ-If you donā€™t know what you are doing, neither does your enemyā€

This is what I see as the most likely scenario.

Weā€™re gonna kick their ass and take their lunch money, bro.

Mentioned in other thread, heard today that Cook led the NFL by a wide margin in 0 or negative yard rushes and that long story short, the analytics show his production is volume based, not ability based anymore and that a huge cliff drop is coming for him. Thusly Kwesi is using the idea that getting out early is better than getting out late.

Detroit Lions. Rebuilding for 55 years.

As far as negative yards are concerned, Barry Sanders holds the NFL record. During his career, he lost 1,114 yards .

A good chunk of Barryā€™s negative runs were some of the best running this league has ever seen.

Id rather watch 3 hours of Barry negative yardage runs than ever watch Curtis Martin or Frank Gore.

It makes sense that they would move on but itā€™s hard to believe no oneā€™s willing to trade for him.

Personally Iā€™d play him and trade him before the deadline. Some playoff team will be willing to take a flyer.

As for moving on. Heā€™s pushing the magical 28 year old mark where RBā€™s tend to drop off and Cooks yards per carry have declined the last two years to his lowest number 4.4 in his career.

I think the salary is too high. Teams would rather take a chance in free agency. Cook is owed $10.4Mā€¦then $11.9Mā€¦then $13.9M. The team trading for him would be transferred his $2M salary guarantee and they would be on the hook for this other incentives and bonuses built into his contract.

The salary is a big factor and so is his shoulder. Heā€™s been playing through serious shoulder problems for quite some time. Which could be a real issue when you get hit constantly like RBā€™s do.

Yep, he didnā€™t have the team around him that Cook had and the D could guess most of the time when he was getting the ball. I always thought that was just an interesting stat though, think of the yards he would have gotten with the Cowboys.

Getting a little off topic here, but itā€™s incredible that at the same time the Pistons were turning a roster of misfits who outworked the glamour teams into back to back championshipsā€¦

And the previously DOA Red Wings were building a team that would dominate the league for a decade while racking up 4 championshipsā€¦

The Lions were turning the greatest and most unstoppable player of his generation into a single effing playoff win and no championships.

But isnā€™t it great having Kwesi in the division?
This is why you donā€™t hire good day traders to run your football team. Letā€™s hope for 2-3 more years of the Kweeze.

I am 100% with you ā€¦but Iā€™m more greedy. Iā€™m hoping heā€™s here for another 5-6 years or more! I think their plan looks ridiculousā€¦& the trades are ooooh sooooo good

I dontā€™ think our bald guy will bring in a high dollar FA at this point, but of
Cook
Hoppy
Chase
Lamarā€¦
of those guys, I would prefer cook. Iā€™m sure thatā€™s a minority opinion, but I still think we could use another depth RB. One year deal like CJGJ?

truthfully, would rather notā€¦just saying out of the guys listedā€¦

Sure - Iā€™ll take 5-6 years, but heā€™s running that team into the ground. They might go from 13-4 to 4-13! They had to be the worse 13-4 team on the planetā€¦ever. I canā€™t see him lasting 5-6 years, but we can hope. Especially if he tries to do business with the villain again.

completely agree.
His moves make no sense to me. Bring in a very high priced TE, then cut other vets? Seems opposite direction of e/o.

Bradley will eat his lunch every year. Sure is a great time to be a Lions fan.
Vikings miiiiiight win 8 or 9 this yearā€¦Maaaayyybe.

There are some variables with the bears, and they have a lot of capital to expand, but sure am hoping they continue to ā€œBear Downā€. LOL. Sat next to a Bears fan during one of our games against them last year and this guy kept screaming to the top of his lungsā€¦ā€œBear Down!ā€ If there was a Chicago injury, I had every intention of screaming ā€œBear downā€. LOL.
So annoying.

Packersā€¦love is a huge key component. I hope they struggle at QB for 50 years.

I think the Lions feast on the NFCN for at least a couple of years though. Both because we are goodā€¦and because they suck.
