Preparing for next years rebuild.

He’s 27. Someone is going to snatch him up and whoever that is, I hope is not on the schedule.

Vikings fan Florio crying about it:

By the way, an overreaction by Florio. There’s still several veteran options still on the market:

That list is pitiful.

Sucks to be a running back these days lol.

That’s to be expected at this time of year, but if Elliott or Fournette were willing to take a short-term team-friendly deal, they would have a veteran option beyond Mattison.

What exactly are the Vikings doing? Looking at trading Hunter possibly as well?

They realized it took 100 missed holding calls for them to barely beat us the first game and we kicked their ass in the second last season. They see no hope after our off season build.
They admit defeat and are retreating. Just like aaron. Expect them to trade a certain wr next…

I think they’re trying to do one of those rebuilds-on-the-go. Not a complete reset. Hopefully it ends in catastrophe. It often does, especially when you don’t have a stud QB.

Thats whats so weird. They should either be kicking the can further down the road like the Saints, or entering a full rebuild. Their starting QB is almost 35 and is on a one year deal. They don’t have any great options behind him. You either try to make one last run over the next 2-3 seasons with Cousins or you gut the roster of the aging veterans and rebuild.

I could see it if they had a QB around Goff’s age or someone legitimate behind Cousins, but they don’t.

I think full rebuilds are a disaster and don’t typically work out the way people envision. I think transitioning into the new roster over the course of a few years is a better option.

I think that strategy works in the right situation, but not always. We entered a full rebuild the moment it was decided we were trading Stafford, which was 100% the right move.

In the Vikings situation, if you are going to keep the agin QB, then you kick the can down the road and try to win now. In 2-3 years when its time to move on from Cousins, you find a young replacement and take your lumps getting out of cap hell with a rookie QB contract.

Yeah it fails far more than it doesn’t. So does a rebuild-on-the-go, honestly. It’s just plain hard to rebuild in general… unless you have a stud QB. The Chiefs just rebuilt-on-the-go in one year and won a Super Bowl smh. Reload I guess they call it.

But I understood us doing it, we had a cancerous roster that had to be excised. I understand the Bears doing it too. Bad/aging players + bad contracts can never win in the NFL, a complete reset is better than trying to squeeze forward somehow.

They are embracing their inner doormat.

Maybe we can trade them our 3rd or 4th RB for a first round pick!

OK OK… I’ll take two seconds.
