Crosby likely to start today at LT

Sounds like Decker is out today from early reports.I really liked Crosby’s performance in his rookie year but he struggled in camp and preseason which is puzzling to me.I for one dont have any faith in Decker he is not strong enough if you ask me and commits way to many penalties.Fingers crossed Crosby plays well today he has his hands full with that DL.

Figure a lot of JJ to help out

Well shit.

If Stafford announced his retirement at 12:55, I wouldn’t hold it against him.

Why is Decker out?..because he sucks or injury?

Back injury

Ah, he probably sprained it spinning around to watch the defenders run by him.

Guessing he was hurt before the game ever started. Dude has Never played that poorly in his life. He’s been gradually getting worse, since his rookie season, but that last game was just awful. I’m guessing he was trying to man up for the team and actually hurt the team by playing injured, last week.

I would go back to watch him vs Khalil Mack in college before saying he “never played that poorly in his life.” LOL

This is going to end up being the offensive tackle version of Bledsoe and Brady. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Decker is about to get Wally Pip’d!

Are you suggesting that Decker has ALS?

Decker would be Wally in that scenario

You’re right. Poor Tyrell. Hopefully the onset of symptoms are years off

Back to the topic at hand, I assume we basically live in 12 personnel today.

Thank god we have our TE room. Quinn deserves some credit for that one

If I’m the Lions, I gotta go with the 2TE formations a lot today, both to run and to pass. On pass plays, the TEs have to look for who’s covering them, where are the LBs? I would think they could double team the pass rusher on their side and release the block and head downfield, looking for the ball as soon as you get past the LOS. I imagine Hockenson will draw most of the attention from the defense as far as TEs go, which to me means JJames and LThomas might have some success.

I’d also look for KeJo and TyJo running wheel routes out of the backfield. The big thing to me, Stafford can’t hold onto the ball, it’s gotta be outta there PDQ before he gets popped. No fumbles this week, okay?

Don’t know if Jarrad Davis is gonna play, either way I expect this defense to come out strong and be in Rivers’ face all day. We ARE going to see max effort today I think. And so, I ain’t afraid to go on record with:

Lions 23
Chargers 17

Turnstile Taylor on the bench would not seem to be an issue for Matt.

We know Decker is better than he played last week. It was sub-par by Decker’s standards, mo matter where you think they rank on a league scaled.

That said, I’m easily buying this is injury related. Both the performance and the benching.

Looking to Crosby, he went from “developmental player” to “failed pick” in the preseason to me. And now he’s your starting LT unless Aboushi is. Either way, that will handcuff the daylights out of our offense by keeping extra help on that side. I suppose if you’re Bevell and Patricia, you make the most of it and use the extra beef on the left side to open up some running lanes. If you gotta pad the line with help for pass pro, you may as well try and benefit from it by running the ball down their stinking throats.

Justin Rogers said Decker’s back injury happened after the game. It just tightened up on him. Therefore, his shitty play had nothing to do with the back injury.

Crosby might be the worst OT I’ve ever seen. If anyone could do worse than Decker’s effort last week it would be Crosby. It might be wise to park Jessie James beside him the whole game.

negative…His back injury flared up after the game per Justin Rogers.

Decker is out for today. Here are the inactives:
Chargers at Lions

Chargers: TE Hunter Henry, QB Easton Stick, K Michael Badgley, CB Roderic Teamer, CB Michael Davis, LB Jatavis Brown DL Cortez Broughton

Lions: T Taylor Decker, LB Jarrad Davis, DL Da’Shawn Hand, G Beau Benzschawel, CB Amani Oruwariye, WR Travis Fulgham, QB David Blough

This is a winnable game if Slay can keep Allen in check, and the Lions can cover Ekeler out of the backfield.
