Current 2026 Roster/ Depth Chart & Pending FAs

I already added Bates, hes gonna be signed one way or another. Im surprised he wasn’t ERFA tagged but they are probably working on a long term contract.

And I removed Decker and Glasgow until proven otherwise. Their’s and Rags Cap cost is the amount over the dead cap.

Thanks @DBend144 on the work you did here

Really think we needed to go Linerbacker last year in the draft, was one of the more sneaky needs that we had.

Demetrius Knight was one of my favorites late, but he went super early to the bengals in round 2, and hes been pretty good for them. Sucks honestly

Alternatively, it’d be nice to see the Lions play with 2 LBs on the field much more often. I wouldn’t mind finding a guy who can be a hybrid S/Coverage LB-type to fill multiple roles.

I do think Nickel is the way to go

Turns the SS into basically a 3rd linebacker with more speed to seal off runs and can cover better

it really is the “Meta” rn tbh

while i dont hate the 3 LB sets, i think injuries kinda forced us into running them more than we wanted at the end of the season.

To me 3 LB sets are really only good against large personnel on offense.

It also makes it much harder to run zone defense unless your blitzing.

So not at all surprising that the lions were in a 3lb set a lot because they played man a lot.

I really like the way you laid this one out @DBend144. Removing all of our own free agents from the depth chart really shows a more realistic view of where we’re at. A lot of holes to fill.

The majority of chatter so far is on the Oline, but good lord the roster needs that Holmes is going to have to address this off season is pretty substantial.

I agree. Great representation @DBend144. And since I know you like attention to detail I will mention the spelling mistake on Barnes.

This is a really solid visual of our depth and highlights the drawbacks when we don’t stockpile or hit on picks for a year or two.

Nice job on the big picture and where we stand. I have one question about Whiteside. I saw him more as an outside CB with some potential from his limited action. Do the lions actually project him inside or did you just slot him inside to give him a spot?

More or less just to give him a spot for now. He played all over the field this season.

And if he stays on the roster. I would prefer the Lions go get a better backup Outside corner than a better backup nickel.

I would keep Whiteside outside. If Amik leaves we certainly need to add somebody inside. I love the way Rakestraw plays football but he has shown no signs of being able to stay on the field. I am one of his biggest or maybe only fans in here but I would not count on him for anything at this point.
