Yes, thanks REM. I’m a fan of Stoic thought. It’s not only great for Lions fans, but a great tonic for this world of immediate gratification where there’s always something else to eat, endless porn on demand, smart phones and video games to occupy the brain… the world could really use a leader like Marcus Aurelius in this day and age. But they don’t make them like that anymore.
Marcus Aurelius discussing Matt Patricia a couple thousand years ago:
“The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.”
― Meditations
And his admonishment directly to posters on this board:
“The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.”
― Meditations
Wise words grasshopper.
Love cannot be described; Love can only be experienced!
never eat spinach with a stranger
At least with blown 4th quarter leads there is some normalcy returning to my life.
“Here is a rule to remember in future, when anything tempts you to feel bitter: not “This is misfortune,” but "To bear this worthily is good fortune.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
When the whole world is running towards a cliff, he who is running in the opposite direction appears to have lost his mind. C J Lewis
Patricia read the book: How to not blow leads during games and pay attention to the Cliff Notes , you might pick up something.
Then you can read : Football for dummies Book I , and : Defense for dummies , Book II.
Once again, Marcus Aurelius reaching across the centuries with a message specifically for this board:
“Begin each day by telling yourself: Today I shall be meeting with interference, ingratitude, insolence, disloyalty, ill-will, and selfishness – all of them due to the offenders’ ignorance of what is good or evil.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Seneca with a word for Matt Patricia:
“As long as you live, keep learning how to live. To err is human, but to persist in a mistake is diabolical.”
Love this one! So true! All we ever do is get better at being ourselves/more aligned.
The life of us all… we all do something, repetitively speaking we know we shouldn’t… addictions at its best!
