Dan Campbell explains why Brian Branch missed Lions' win vs. Seattle

Also saw that Branch was fined $10k for the hit on Trey McBride, what a bunch of BS

Mcbride should have been the one fined. He’s the one that initiated the helmet to helmet.

Branch was on PTO

Both guys dropped their heads… But crazy that only defenders get fined for it. Offensive players get a high five…defensive player loses 10 grand…bullshit.

It wouldn’t have been helmet to helmet if McBride hadn’t lowered his head and come in low to plow Branch. Branch was coming in lower. Looked to me like he would have hit more with his shoulder. The receiver lowered his head and hit Branch in the side of his helmet with the crown of his helmet.
You can see the replay in this link.
Former Alabama DB Brian Branch injured after scary helmet-to-helmet contact (saturdaydownsouth.com)

yup - not only lowered, but lined up with…would not have been helmet to helmet. the league should try to get rid of such hits. defenders should be taught since middle school to leave their eyes up.

that said, this should not have been a penalty on our boy…or at the very least put it on both of them… the more fair thing on the offensive player. something like that.

We all know, the only thing th league cares about is money

What always gets me is they show the replay 50 times and put it on highlight reels and then fine the player for being naughty…so they make money on both ends. Player safety my ass.
