I hate saying this but based on the history so far i dont have a ton of trust in either dan or brad doing the absolute best thing for the team and instead going after their guys again, if that makes sense.
Not really, no.
I hope the failure of this team this year is a wake up call to him. He thought he had built a team and a culture that could survive both coordinators leavingāthat he and the culture were the constants, so everything was good. Turns out it wasnāt. Call it ego, call it belief in what he had built or belief in the players.
Biggest eye opener for me: The backups Brad had really sucked.
OL had nothing behind the starters. Skipper is a bad, bad LT. All the Centers were so bad they couldnt hand off the ball. These were the guys Brad chose to be the OL backups. Colon, Egun, Frazier, Skipper, the whole backup OL was complete garbage. Some of these guys have been with the team and prepared - just really bad.
No backups for S hurt. Barnes was the worst LB and he got paid. Why was that? DTs got paid, best DT per snap was probably Lopez - just a cheap free agent guy that bounces around.
So it seems Brad really struck out 10 times in a row with a lot of those choices. OL choices, DL choices, LB paid and hes the worst, no backups for Safety just practice squad guys.
Has he been fired? I missed that.
Nah. They always do what they think it best for the organization. But they are human beings so sometimes they are wrong.
I like Goff - but he throws low speed, wobbly ducks. It works because he is 9/10 with his mental game. His physical ability is below average.
Jamo with Stafford would be bonkers. Jamo is like Randy Moss, no one can stay with him. Just throw it as far as possible, Jamo will be in front of his defender. Goff canāt really do that.
Muhammad, Lopez, Rock, Maddox, Harper were good signings no?
Brad got a big dose of humble pills this season (or at least I hope did). I have faith he will add to the trenches because heās not stupid. Itās obvious that was the issue with the team this year. Big emphasis on the OLine
Hopefully he starts with himself and go back to managing the team instead of calling plays!!
No, they need to absolutely know what they are doing offensively-and defensively . stop baffing around !!
lol all this bellyaching is honestly worthless. The team will draft, get free agents, new coordinators, softer schedule next year. We will all be funneling Kool aid. In real life, people can bellyache all they want, but no one is giving up on our team that just had one down year after a meteoric rise.
Breathe. Vent. Hibernate until the draft. Then prepare your livers, because a river of optimism will flow down our gullets. I am NOT losing faith. Our team will learn from their mistakes. This is their first set back from their rise, and we went 8-9.
Do all you naysayers remember who we were before this regime?
Regression to the mean on injuries would help too. A solid vet IOL FA who will go about their bidness along with Rags taking a second year step. A coaching staff without 10 or so changes this offseason should help with continuity too.
A big call is needed on play calling. Iād assume Morton will stay and move back into a senior support role. Maybe he leaves rather than being demoted but I doubt he is going to have huge options.
Special teams have been pretty mediocre all year - but I think part of that are simply due to injuries and guys needed on special teams having to step up and play defence.
Safety and edge the real need come the draft for me.
The thing I liked most about Brad and Dan was that they both seemed very, very focused on winning and they were not the kind of guys who would ignore glaringly obvious problems because their egos told them they were the smartest guys in the room and everybody else was wrong. This year, that was⦠not what we got.
I expect that this season put a fire under both of them and they will act with some urgency. Instead of behaving as if they have all the time in the world, like they did this year. i want to believe that they are competitive enough to be adaptable, that they will realize that getting to one NFC championship game didnāt give them both jobs for life. I am ready for some humility and some fire, hopefully thatās what we see.
Big Changes = Have to Clean some things up.

That I agree with. I expect 1 year deals with Oline vets. Hoping Frazier, Mahog, Ratledge will develop. Ragnow probably comes back.
Decker is an issue. If the team doesnt have LT, LG, or C then its bad. It looks like the last game against the Vikings, all year.
So probably draft a LT at 15th pick overall, who can play some guard maybe if Decker is alright.
The problem with all the resources into Offense is that if your Oline sucks, its all wasted. Jamo, Gibbs, Laporta, Teslaa, Monte, ARSB, all wasted if no Oline.
Might as well have PS guys if Goff is getting sacked in 2 seconds every snap.

I didnāt get āhints at major changes" from those comments.

Iām still not buying that he will fire Shep. I think he should. I donāt think he will.

Major changes SHOULD be made. I just think one of Danās major faults is that he like HIS guys and seems unwilling (up to this point) to go outside that small group to get what this team might need.
I expect that Campbell will hire an OC. Maybe Daboll. I think it would really help to have someone who is as experienced a play caller as he is. I think he will keep shep. And honestly itās tough to evaluate him from this year. He didnāt have much to work with. A bad secondary after kirby and branch went down and no passrush.. we did look way better when healthy. And it was his first year in the position. Iām ok with keeping him. The real change is needed in personel. And honestly itās going to be tough since brad already spent multiple draft picks trading up last year.. and we donāt have much cap space. Plus our depth isnāt good and some players we counted on most likely wonāt be back. (Branch and kirby might never be the same, plus decker might retire). Holmes is going to have to realize his mistakes.. hopefully do some trading back.. and hopefully hit on a cluster of guys in the draft. And we will have to hit on a few vets to stabilize some spots. A lot to do in the off season. I just hope Holmes is up to the task.
