Dan Campbell Hints at Major Changes After Lions Are Eliminated From NFL Playoffs on Christmas

Actually spend money. Do research on both DC and oc. Thats the only big changes they need

I mean… yeah, but most importantly

Fix the trenches

I kinda feel bad for Morton. They made him the fall guy for something that was caused by Raganow and Zeitler leaving.

Thats called spending money. Draft dudes might take years to develop. I want to sign a edge and sign a center. I want them to Draft both as well. Also need a maybe two safeties

We prolly not going to get everything in one offseason, but we need to spend and draft on the trenches for sure

Regardless, work to be done

The Lions aren’t cheap, they just prefer to sign their own guys.

It’s part of the culture. Guys know if they earn it they can get paid before their rookie deal is up.

If they sign expensive free agents, that means they are going to have to let some of their guys walk. Now, it looks like Gibbs and Campbell are locks now. And maybe BB and Sam are not anymore, or, they will have to lower their expectations based on their health.

But it’s not like they aren’t spending money. They may indeed have to recalibrate and become less attached to their draft picks, opting to bring in a star or two from outside. We’ll see.

Disagree. He had to play the hand he was dealt sure, but he clearly rubbed players the wrong way and didn’t do anything to overcome the deficits.

Yeah because that’s won us how many SB again.

Go to the lists being put out for the “hottest” OC’s available and go throw a mint at them. Forget this growing up in Detroit crap. These are NOT the spots for On the Job Training. Belief is one thing, blind allegiance to “the Lion Way” is another. We are 8-8 because of the later, not the former. Will is part of the equation. TALENT is another and you can’t will yourself talent. Not at calling plays, not at running routes, not running into an A gap moving backwards again and again and again. Sorry gang, I’m seeing shades of Marinelli here. If DC is man enough to step aside and be the leader of men he’s good at, then great. If he looks at his explosive plays stat and feels it means he’s really awesome at this playcalling thing, then he’s not “looking at everything.” Jamo must be by far the most expensive offensive human per touch/target in the history of the NFL. Why in THE eff did we hand that guy all that money if the new OC has no earthly idea how to involve him in the offense. Pathetic!

Interesting article why he was fired from the Jets, it sounds familiar.

It’s time to pivot, but I do believe the Lions had the best W/L record over a stretch between 2022-2024. So there was considerable success.

Time for changes now. But a strong foundation is in place, still, as a result of the draft well and resign strategy. I would guess Brad feels more urgency today than last year. I hope he does anyway.

Thats his issue. His ego was so big he couldn’t see what some fans said to do. Now we have to sit back watch a former starting qb lead his team in the playoffs, watch the former oc lead his team in the playoffs. Mean while defense cant stop the run. Oline cant block , and goff had what 6 turnovers yesterday, and took safety vs Pittsburgh. What was Holmes hoping for? Players are made out of glass as well. If they play pussy foot in the offseason its going to be the same thing like this year. Bears are way better , did what they needed to do in the offseason, packers made a big trade , and big part to their nice season. Mean while lions big move was DJ Reed.

Talent level on the team isn’t the problem. Of course there needs to be some tweaks, but obviously the problems are more rooted in coaching and scheme, especially in game day play calling and adjustments, and scheme adjustments to the ludicrous amount of injuries we’ve had in depth at position groups.

Seems clear now was a pretty big mistake ro trust essentially two first-time coordinators with a Super Bowl ready team.

The good news is just dumb luck says we won’t have the depth of injury at two or three position groups like we’ve had the past two years. The real question is do they need to adjust the Personnel to the new incoming coordinators, or they make the right hires and have those coordinators have enough experience, and be honest Dan have enough experience now to guide them in creating overall scheme strategies and plays that fit the Personnel Group.

I’m optimistic, but boy it’s been a very very disappointing season

We just need to stay healthy. Need to fix the coordinator issue on offense. I am happy with defensive coordinator. A lot of free agents , but low cap hits in most. Expect they will let many walk.Holmes will do his thing in draft and follow his board ignoring need. Expect Decker will retire. Offence set except need a Center and tackle. Expect big leaps next year for Tesla, Frazier, Rutledge. Mahogany. I spect no big money free agents signings.

Run it back and say healthy!!

We need coordinators. No more going with the no exp ones.
I was at the game it was brutal to watch. No adjustments what so ever. They were a couple of shots to JamO were open but never happened

I was hoping for a max protect n let it fly since they were all standing on the line and no one can stay with him ffs

The pic to teslaa. He had jamo down the sideline

Anyway. He had pressure all day

Better pic now

One of the guys on the Lions Collective podcast (check it out, it’s the best Lions pod there is) said that some of the players were really angry with Morton’s schemes and playcalling early in the season, like they couldn’t make sense of what they were doing and why they were being asked to do it.

Dan needs to hire coordinators that are more than just people that he likes, they need to fit.

Nailed it. When building things up it’s great to have your bros by your side to cement the message. At a higher level, once the messaging is in, it’s time to find the best and brightest and not just the nearest.

Hiring coordinators is huge this year, no second rate nonsense. People have to want to come play around with this roster.
