Lions head coach Dan Campbell, in all of his 6-foot-5 masculinity, is a little dog man.
. But it was a designer dog seated in Campbell’s lap that stole the shot, drawing surprise and delight from online commenters.
=====
“Did not have ‘Dan Campbell’s purse dog’ on my bingo card,” X user @KevinDonlin commented on the image reposted on the platform formerly called Twitter.
“Dog takes out the ankles, coach takes out the kneecaps,” wrote @justinhecht, a reference to Campbell’s famed January 2023 comment in which he promised that, when knocked down, the Lions would not only get back up but “on the way up … bite a kneecap off."
See, I would have expected him to be a “mutt” kind of guy.
My mutt is the best dog I’ve ever known. Smart, out going, well behaved, great with kids, and other animals.
He’s part Chihuahua, Pug, and Boxer. He looked like a Jack Russell until he got his adult body. Now, he has a Chihuahua head, Pug legs, and a Boxer body…tough on his ankles.
Best dog ever, though.
Not surprised in the slightest. The greatest leaders protect and nurture all, regardless of size or stature.
Now Dan, if you could please perform a miracle for us Lions fans…
I believe.
If you asked me to guess the kind of dog Dan Campbell has it would have been a Lab, German Shepard, or Golden Retriever. Something that just has a ton of energy. I wouldn’t have guessed a small dog in my first 25 guesses.
It was a breeder in Ortonville that bread their Dog just the one time. They were 1,900.00 each. They are womb mates. They’re not far from Ortonville gun range (1/4 mile). I can drive over and see if they’re planning of another breeding.
I think that anyone who has ever owned a Yorkie understands the greatness of the breed.
Always a good time to post dog pics. Best dogs I have ever owned x 1000. Got them (litter mates) 3 years ago. Doc wanted to put me on high blood pressure meds - after the dogs, I’m on the high end of normal. Pretty sure when they go, they’ll have to bury me too. DNA results show they are as mutty as you get. They have Chow in there somewhere - purple tongues
