BTW. IT’S TUESDAY. Where’s the trade?

I don’t and never really have been critical of Dan with one exception……I hated his propensity to go for it on 4th down. Dan Gamble as they say. But this season his aggressive nature hasn’t bothered me and I haven’t said a word about him going for it until
This very post….I’ve learned to appreciate it. I’ve always been a fan that believed in “Taking what you want” as opposed to “Taking with a defense gives you.” Then occurred to me how I was contradicting myself by complaining about him going for it on 4th downs….that kind of aggression is part of “Taking what you want”. It may not be as calculated as 1st-3rd downs….but 4th down are part of it. Yeah my bad Dan….DO YOU COACH! :100:

Man watching that, it’s pretty clear why we don’t trade all that often. They’re borderline paranoid about only bringing the right people in. They must have said “compatibility” 20 times, and Dan actually said “talent is overrated” lol. And with trades, you can think they’re the right person, but it’s very difficult to know.

Trey, Cam and Carl are inherently vetted :man_shrugging:

And Calais is of absolute concern there. Famously so. Not sure on Smith but I think he’s okay on that front. Not positive though. And don’t think we have any connections to assist with that determination.

Strange on being selective in personnel after decades of signing anyone that could hold a football. Detroit used to be where careers ended.

Right, that’s why players like that have a leg up.

But Brad might be a little more hesitant given how the CJGJ experiment went down.

Ducey is a wee bit different of a fella, amirite?

You would think Calais, Maxx, would be fits for sure. They certainly seem like it from the outside.

But that’s where the paranoia comes in… you can’t know for certain until they’re in the building. What if Calais doesn’t work as hard as he used to because he’s 38. It’s pretty strange he didn’t choose us the past couple of off-seasons, I’m pretty sure we had interest. Maybe he knew he wouldn’t get to treat practice like a vet here? Probably not, but possible.

So he may not trade for a player like Tyreek Hill??

I wouldn’t

Ha, for sure.

But these guys may have some different to them as well that’s just not as publicly known.

That said certainly having them pre-vetted like this will make him much more comfortable, I just really brought it up to point out how extreme our take on compatibility seems in that vid. It’s even more important than we all think it is.

He would not.

And IMO Ducey would have worked out much better if his pec didn’t tear.

I love Tyreek….but I wouldn’t either. He’s not a culture fit and the “Lions Den” that we have now wouldn’t want that disrupted at all

Yeah, might have. But I think he was also just a little bit too much. An exhausting personality. I think that’s why he’s worn his welcome out pretty quickly everywhere he’s been.

Teams have to be careful when trading for older defensive players.
you just don’t want to make a move and have little or no impact?

My main thing with Calais is that he’s a hoss of an edge setter and I’m a little bit concerned about the trend of our run defense. Pass rush is a bonus. He’s also a weapon batting balls down and in kick block bc of his ability to forklift and then deploy his length.

He’s also supposed to be one of the great leaders and men of this era and regularly talked about how badly he wants a ring.

Right, I think unless we spend up we’re gonna be settling for a guy who does one or the other really well - sets the edge or rushes the passer - and if I had to guess it would be the former. Campbell fits for sure. Just odd that he hasn’t really given us a shot. I know we were interested.
