The biggest and baddest villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and our coach Dan Campbell have a lot in common.
- Super tall
- Jacked
- On a mission
But there’s more to it than that.
The more I think about it, the more similarities I start to see between the two stories. Of course Dan Campbell isn’t trying to wipe out half of all life in the entire universe, but he is trying to win a Super Bowl for the Lions, which is historically just as impossible.
The first similarity is that we both got zero help from anyone else.
The Lions obviously got no help from the Packers, Seahawks, or anyone else playing the Vikings. In the first Avengers movie, Thanos hires Loki to attack Earth and to take the space stone (blue one) from the Avengers and give it to him. When Loki fails, at the very end of the movie, we get this great scene:
A good bit later, Thanos starts his quest to collect all six stones. The Lions, coincidentally, have six games in between the Bills loss and a Super Bowl parade (3 regular season, 3 playoff). (Assuming we get the 1 seed)
Our game this past Sunday against the Bears was for the power stone, the first stone that Thanos collects. Also coincidentally, Thanos gets that stone off screen, and we beat the Bears before I tried pushing this narrative.
And now that we have the power stone, and we know we have to do it ourselves:
If we collect all six stones, Dan Campbell can simply snap his fingers, and there will be a super bowl parade in Detroit.
Let’s fill up that freaking glove. Who’s with me!!!
