Dan went from aggressive to total reckless last night. He says he has confidence in the players. That’s a two way street Dan. Players have to have confidence in you to put them in a position to win. Last night, you failed that.
You sure the players lacked confidence in Dan??[quote=“Wolverine0611, post:21, topic:45896, full:true”]

Definitely.
Going for it on 4th down in the other teams end is aggressive.
Going for it on 4th down in your own end twice…is reckless.
Dan’s biggest weakness isn’t gambling. I maintain that his gambles are better than some guy following the old school playbook of always punt on 4th down, always kick the field goal, etc.
His biggest weakness is his loyalty. He can’t fire his friends. He needs to be careful who he hires.
And going through with a fake punt when the other teams starting D is on the field is borderline criminal.
Situational football boys
That was really bad. I’m not sure if that was Dan or Stuard.
The play is called before the personnel group is identified. Stuard has to have a kill call to just punt it away when he sees the base defense on the field.
Circumstances are everything. When our D was bad, or when we were in some shootout style games, going for it on certain 4th downs made sense. Absolutely.
A game like we had against Philly, where it’s more of a defensive slugfest … it’s going to require a different tactic. Positional football and field goals can win a few of these types of games per year. Very surprising Dan was unable to adjust to the circumstance. He has to do better with this.
He’s been great overall. No reason to doubt that he can improve in this particular area.
I agree, but Dan said “it is just who he is”.
I hope he can still keep his aggressive mindset but understand in certain situations it is being aggressive to pin an opponent inside the 10 yard line and let your defense loose.
Only when it doesn’t work.
If it works, he is celebrated for his big brass balls.
Everyone gave Jamo hell for gambling. But it’s fine when Dan does it!? I say he needs to be suspended for 4 games!! It’s only fair lol
Well said. That’s a great way to look at it.
We had good play caller last year ,even without his nonsense calls we would have won last year because we had good players ,his disrespect he thinks his offensive players are enjoying, they don’t . It’s not his thinking is important ,just atleast have some decency to blue collar fans who comes to watch your game spending their saving . I don’t care who Dan is it unless he can make proper play calling ,to me he is an average dude most defensive coordinators are qualified and they know what Dan is thinking
Really? He isn’t afraid to move on from friends as history shows
From earlier this month from the Freep:
If we’ve learned anything about Dan Campbell in the four-plus years he has been coach of the Detroit Lions, it’s that he’s not afraid of tough conversations.
He had one when he demoted offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn midway through their first season, back in 2021. He did it again the next season, when he fired defensive backs coach Aubrey Pleasant.
Campbell had relationships with both. Considered them friends. Yet when the offense struggled that first season, Campbell didn’t hesitate. He did the same the following year with Pleasant.
I stick to my theory
If i wanted to train Dan as stock broker ,I will give him 200 dollar only to trade daily
