Yes - AND I really hope they don’t simply conclude that the trend line is good for the defense and decide to stay the course. Would love to see at least a modest upgrade at CB, or even just additional depth (although Whiteside still waiting in the wings).
Wright goes in motion, pre-snap, from the offensive right backfield, crossing Golf and Gibbs to the offensive left before the ball is even snapped. Mahogany does pull but has the interior seal back to the right, while Wright has the outside kick out on the Packers defender who is on the far left of the Lions offensive line or the far right of the Packers defensive line however you want to think of it. While Wright doesn’t get much of a block on him he does get in the way.
At no point in that play does it look like Wright has any tasking to stop his pre-snap motion or after the snap, stop directly in where the hole is going to be and pivot back towards the Lions right and seal off the back side.
Agreed all the way around. I do want to see this offense come alive a bit against MN tho. Beating up on the likes of the Jets and Cardinals doesn’t get me overly excited. I want to see this offense hang a number in the 20s on Sunday.
You mean EXACTLY what Mike McDaniel did with the chargers. They look lost and disjointed like I’ve seen few teams before… Force Herbert from being a ‘See it’ ‘Throw it’ QB to an anticipation window thrower?
At some point I’d like to have a friendly discussion about the hypothetical hire of McDaniel because I think his system would work a lot better with the Lions roster/qb, but how would it compare to Petzing? For now I really like what I see from Petzing. Will be interesting to see how it goes against he Vikings pressure defense next week that Goff is very familiar with by now.
