Daniel Jeremiah sees one prospect as 'the Lion' of the IOL draft class

We keep hearing this over and over. Is it really that easy?

@CuriousHusker @Thats2 @Davicus and other draft junkies…would this pick make you warm and fuzzy?

I think OL may be the Lions R1 pick

I don’t think Barton would be their guy

I think JPJ may be more their guy than Frazer but what do I know :person_shrugging:

Other than OL, they could go CB or DL at that spot.
Regardless, whoever they get may not see much playing time this year.

Going to be an interesting draft. Plenty of needs beyond this year.

Other than QB, RB, and LB, Holmes could go straight BPA — and he likely will.

In the 2nd round yes. The only one I would take in the first round is Barton. I think Barton is a much better OG than the other 2. He could be an elite LG until Rags decides to retire. If Rags was already retired I’d be more willing to take one of the other two.

I like the way Barton moves for an OG. I would sign him up.

For me it’s almost Barton or bust when it comes to interior OL options in the latter half of the first. I think he can be elite at G and C. I just don’t think he’ll be there at 29

I’m with @BubbaBaker-60 on this one. Frazier at 29 seems a little too rich for me, but a trade back? Okay, I’m down with it. I really do like him as a prospect, but I think he’d be better value later on and I’m a big fan of value.

Seconded. No, thirded. Whatever, this is how I feel too. I have Frazier ranked above JPJ so I’d clearly prefer him, but if we go iOL in the 1st Barton is the only one who’s worth it imo (and I really hope we don’t go iOL in the 1st).

I agree as well. But if Frazier is the pick at 29 I’m okay with it. I think he’s a very, very safe pick

Personally I don’t think Brad is that big of a fan of “playing it safe” though.

Someone been watching my mock draft picks.
Fraiser after a trade down is what i did on colts mock

I have no problem with any of the 3 at 29 I will not pick one of the other to support who I think is best of the 3 . Posters tend to find problems easier to support there favorite which is what makes it fun.

I will be happy with any of them an leave pick to Brad if all 3 are there . They have a lot more info than we do an even they its a pick an not sure thing.

Barton>JPJ>Beebe>Frazier
Barton would be a home run at 29.

The others? Get an extra pick and move down to mid-30’s.

Feel you @Cashmachine. Barton won’t make it anywhere close to 29. Clean prospect. Great hands. Pro Bowl Guard. Could play RT. Zach Martin comp. 4 position OL. Does Brad move to get him?

Exact order of preference for me @JerseyJungle. Frazier is a scrapper, former wrestler, but…my concern with him is his lack of length. I think it shows up against better competition. Yeah, he’s a good player. Mid second rounder? Sure. But I’d much prefer Barton, JPJ, Beebe or even Christian Haynes. Plus this: if Frank Ragnow plays another 2-3 years, Frazier is going to sit. He’s likely a center only.

Frazier’s arms are actually slightly larger than JPJ’s.

I’d go Barton - Frazier and then JPJ but I have the last two in the same bucket.

But if I’m trading up for Barton (and unlike you I do think he may slide to 29) then I’d just as well go up further and get Fautanu who is far more of a dominator IMO.

Plus Fautanu doesn’t have two first names.

Fautanu is a talent for sure. Either would be a fine addition. I’m still wanting defense though. If we trade down a few slots and add another 3rd rounder, that would be ideal. In said scenario, I’d be hoping for Big Bad Darius Robinson.

I just want awesome players. Not terribly concerned about which side. If we can grab an elite guy at 29 on offense or a ring or two down on defense it’s an easy choice for me Not sure I think Robinson is an elite player. I do think he’ll be a useful base end. Just don’t see a ton of star potential. Could be wrong.though.

Frazier has been my dark horse pick for the Lions for some time. Problem is that I doubt he makes it to our round two pick and 29 seems high to me. But Holmes isn’t afraid to draft someone he likes much higher than people expect.

Yet …. Most mocks (and so called draft specialists) are projecting a lot of interior OL high and it’s uncommon for that many to go top 40.

I think this draft has some really good options for IOL and with Goff we should put a premium on getting as much OL help as we can.

I also think that Holmes let Jonah Jackson go knowing he had plenty of options in this draft and I expect the Lions to get an OG/OC by round 3.

So…. I keep wondering. Would we go WR at 29 and IOL with our second rounder? …. What about trading up from 61 to about 41 and taking Frazier?…: would Lions fans freak out if we go offense twice?

Brad looks for probowl talent in the first round regards of position. Personally I think Darius Robinson will be the pick.
