Daniel Jeremiah's NFL Mock Draft 1.0

I of course am a huge fan of Zierlein (Kadyn at #24) since he published this shortly after my post on the Kadyn Proctor thread this morning:

DJ’s top 50. Some interesting names.

He’s much higher on Ioane than most, really high on Blake Miller too. Lower on Downs.

Seems a little off to me

Since it’s DJ, it will become the norm soon as everyone copies him. I have been high on Blake Miller, he’s a late 1st for me as well so I like that one, but I disagree with plenty of others.

I’m happy to see that he doesn’t have my draft crush Center Jake Slaughter in his top 50. Maybe because he’s oldish? He seems quick enough to compensate for not being a mauler and quick to move to his next target. Am I naive in thinking he could be a year one starter?

really high on Mesidor too aswell

interesting list ngl

Oh I think he’s one of the leaders of the Mesidor agenda. I think it’s telling that he didn’t even mention his age.

100 percent

Maybe a trade down target? I would love to trade down a few spots, notch a bonus pick and get him.

I’m not touching a guy who turns 25 on draft day anywhere close to the first or even the second round.

I wonder how high Love will actually go. That is higher than I think he had Bijan (although probably a better draft) I also think Tyree Wilson’s career so far has made a guy like Faulk drop some. Still pretty early in the process, but its funny how the pendulum swings.

He’ll go pretty high imo. I don’t know that he goes as high as Jeanty, but top 15 I bet. Personally I don’t have him in that tier of prospect, but a lot of other people do. And like you said this class will probably push him up.

I think Faulk’s biggest issue right now is his 2025 tape. He just didn’t look to have the same level of juice that we all expected. He can right that through the process, but imo he needs to.

Styles is the same thing. Top 5 talent, but where does he land. I love him, but IMO he is an off ball LB. Jeremiah has him going 7 to Washington. Maybe that is the play but man this draft is strange to me. It just doesn’t have top end guys. We took Campbell at 18 and got a lot of blowback IIRC for taking him so high.

It’s his first list. That is typically the flag planting list. Take this as he loves the player. The what sources are saying stuff will have more influence over time. He hasn’t even had the combine to pick brains of scouts and decision makers.

Btw. Is it me or does DJ just seem like the nicest man ever?

He does seem like an extremely nice guy. In fact sometimes I think that kindness gets taken advantage of in what is not a very nice industry, but that’s a trade-off I’m willing to put up with. But I keep it in mind.

I have always heard with DJ that the mock = what he’s hearing, whereas his list = his takes, but I do think at this stage those are very close to the same. Like you said it’s early in the process, he hasn’t had the time to hear too much scoop. Honestly I think a lot of GMs and other high-level contacts are just starting to familiarize themselves with the prospects, so the rumors right now are probably pretty worthless anyway.

There are some blue-chippers in this class, but yeah they’re at low value positions. Styles - who’s my 2nd ranked guy - Downs, Love, even Fano/Mauigoa are seen as guards by some teams.

But in this one I would rather be picking 10-20 than 1-10. Once you get past Mendoza everyone to me is in that same tier of like, 13-17 1st round talents. The key is to get one of those, and it’s better to pick at the end of a tier than the beginning. It also opens up the possibility for a trade-down, as other teams target the last of their 1st round guys.

I still maintain that spending a mid first on Howell is cray-cray but whatever.

It is, and DJ should know it. At least he mentions the length concerns in his blurb. He doesn’t even talk about Mesidor’s age, which is imo pretty disingenuous to his readers, though he’s such a nice guy I can’t imagine it’s anything other than an oversight. Hell knowing the way admins worked, they might have removed it ā€œfor space,ā€ just to get people fired up. Eh, that’s probably a little niche, but it’s similar to the sort of shit they do.

lol , I could burn you, but I’ll be nice. however a prospect that’s 25-say he get’s drafted, you get at LEAST five to ten season’s of that man playing for you-because NFL player rot is about 35 years old, which F%%## give me 35 again!! as a pedestrian , I’m 53 now.
