But yes, a legend and may he rest in peace

RIP Mufasa, and King Jaffe Joffer. James Earl Jones was a legend. I enjoyed him in pretty much every single movie and show he was in. Him and Jeremy Irons in the Lion King were two iconic voices matched up.

He played the straight part in Dr. Strangelove. Not one of his more memorable roles but great movie.

He was 93 and I still feel like we lost him too soon. I got to see him speak my freshman year of college, and the entire audience hung on to his words like they came from the mouth of a god. If anyone here hasn’t heard him deliver Frederick Douglass’ speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”, look it up. I won’t post the link here because the one I know of was put on YouTube by a political organization.

RIP to the man who’s voice could be the comfort of a powerful father and the voice of evil personified.

This is a perfect summation of James Earl Jones voice. His voice was sheer power. It could be a weapon used for love, reverence and respect. It could also be a terrifying, will bending force. Either way, when he spoke, you listened. You didn’t have a choice otherwise.

I didn’t know/remember that. Yes one of the greatest films of all time IMO.

It really was “the voice”.
