I realize after I typed the title that this might be a bit “click bait” but it was unintentional. ![]()
Latest ARSB podcast was really good.
I’ve never really heard Davonte Adams speak but he definitely knows and appreciates his craft. He talks about knowing he has god-given skills but that it was other things that he did that have given him that next level of success. A lot of his game (and what sets him apart) is mental and pre-snap.
His analysis of the importance of “wide-receiver release” is super insightful as he walks you through his thought process when lining up on any down.
That specific part starts at 28:12 for the people that can’t be bothered with the rest of the podcast.
He talks overtly or indirectly about his own immaturity as well as recognizing it with other players he’s played with (including EQ).
Anyway if you’re into learning something and upping your game as an armchair QB, it’s actually a good listen. Some good banter in between as well including talk about Aaron Rodgers, Suh (the St Brown brothers have no idea who he is lol) and how the league is different vs when he came in (not so long ago) vs today.
Came away to me as a humble but confident guy that has taken his opportunity seriously which isn’t always the case with a lot of top athletes.
