He spent most of his career there, met his wife there, has lots of ties to the area. He was the one big get for the Texans I thought was doable, and it worked out.

This adds a bit of credibility to an organization that’s been league-worst for several years.
Honestly I think it was a great career move for Ryans. Houston has 12 draft picks this upcoming year, 2 first rounders and 2 more first rounders next year. I think Ryans made a great decision for his future. I was talking about this a bunch in other threads this past week. He now avoids the win now Russ situation that Payton will face in Denver. Houston will be patient with Ryans, similar to Coach Campbell taking over a dumpster fire.
Also, if anyone wants to be a head coach, go work for Shanahan asap.
