Depth Chart and Cap Update 3/20/25

72 players are signed
65 are from the 2024 Season.

The cap situation is est.
$43m in cap space.

The graph shown shows the top 6 paid Players and 45 others to show the top 51.
Their total cap% allocation.
Cap increase of 7.5% per year

2025 nfl drafted players included
All players have their estimated 5th year option.
Hutch has a 40m AAV for 4 years extension slapped in as a place holder for now
Obviously some money magic will be done between now and this time next year. But there is more than enough wiggle room in the contracts

Good work i would put Lynn in the spot after Moe He is signed for another year

I appreciate it!

Lynn simply is still on his Rookie 3 year UDFA contract still because he was injured all season on IR. If he wasnt hurt he would be on the same deal.

So i went purely based on NFL experience.
Oconnor had NFL snaps in 14 games.
Ukwu was on the practice squad all year
Lynn on IR all year.

Just to add to . . . a depth chart showing number of years under control.

Depth by Control

I’m including fifth year options for Hutch, Jamo, Gibbs, Jack C and Arnold. Based on the number of years under control, I think we will look at extending Hutch and Joseph this year. Maybe Anzalone and Amik.

Why Lynn over Muhammad and OcConnor is it just cheaper under team control? Or just slapped them in there after the top 3?

Wow not much turnover at all… That’s pretty rare in the nfl

They didn’t waive injure him during pre-season last year, but might mean nothing. Other than the starters and primary backups, it’s kind of a guessing game that will sort out in training camp.

its early you can add likely 18 to 22 from draft an UDFA so like always it will be close to what average turn over is an we have not finished FA time or after draft time plus cuts just before season

True Coyote. But returning 20 of 22 starters from a 15 and 2 team is pretty darn good IMO. And DJ might be better than Davis

I agree this is very deep team partly cus of all injuries others got playing time an earned 1 year deals

NFL average is 60-65% of players returning. (40-45 players) its rare to have a team retain 50 players let alone 60. But thats 69 man roster end of season to 69 man roster to start the fallowing season. Not off season. I cant find much info on how many for offseason
Highest i can find is ~58 players retained

Not going to overthink this one.

When you go 2 and 15 everybody is fired.

When you go 15 and two, well there’s only been five teams in history better than that, so it might be a good idea to keep most everybody back around

With 72 signed… add 7 draft picks (if none traded away)…
and 11 UDFAs… and the Lions will be at the 90-man limit.

So… any additional UFA signings from now until June will either reduce the UDFA signings… or somebody currently on the roster has to be cut.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months.

Obviously dreaded injuries are a factor. But the 53 man roster is pretty packed already. Gonna be some tough cuts. Guys like Sorsdal and Bromart gonna need great camps just to make team.

Absolutely. I know Brad likes giving those guys 3 years to develop. BUT when you have so many other players you HAVE to keep, means those guys you WANT to keep are at the bottom and likely cut.

Only 13 true bubble spots left on the roster

Depending on Ya-Sin/ Dorsey/ Maddox/ Skipper contracts that could change.

But yea if your in the bubble box i would be worried

Nice schematic @DBend144 . This is a good way to demonstrate it.

What is the difference between the yellow and gold? Thanks in advance.

Edit nevermind I got it.
