Our Detroit Lions have had 13 DPI calls against us for 204 yards but are the beneficiary of only 1 DPI for 5 yards in 196 Goff attempts. I know we do a good job of scheming guys open, but a DPI rate of 0.5% seems suspiciously low. FYI, Terrion Arnold has six of them. So for all those Texan fans who think the refs are putting their thumb on the scale for the Lions… I present exhibit A.
Not saying we haven’t been a little grabby, but a 13:1 ratio seems a little out of whack. Dallas has committed 1 DPI for a total of 6 yards. Allegedly
I think part of this is a product of how AG wants our CB’s to play. Man to man and very aggressive. Arnold needs to improve and I expect he will but I think the coaches think getting a few calls is worth the effectiveness of the aggressive play.
Goff and St. Brown both had helmet to helmet hits put on them worthy of ejection by NYC standards.
St. Brown was speared at the goal line on his TD. Watch the replay. It’s plain as day.
Texan fans can suck it.
We play like the Legion of Doom, aggressively. They accepted some interference calls and knew the refs would get tired of calling marginal plays eventually. So, yeah, even without Arnold being overfriendly with the receivers, we’re going to get more interference calls than most teams.
Also Goff accuracy and preference to clearly open receivers may account some for few PI calls.
Yessir. I wasn’t trying to imply that we don’t deserve most of those DPIs. As you say, we play aggressive. The Goff accuracy point also is valid, as is BJs offense getting guys open. Just hoping it evens out a bit.
You are gonna get more DPI when you lead the league in Man 2 man coverage and are the stickiest secondary in the league. Think arnold has improved over the last few weeks in regards to his DPI’S
