The most concerning area is backup OT. Pray that neither Sewell nor Decker get hurt

Observations:

I see Tre’Quan Smith as a dark horse.

Houston is sliding closer to the exit.

Campbell gets the nod at Mike.

I mean only if you assume the man the myth Bates is leaving Ford Field…he is a lock to be a Lion (OK so maaayyybbbeee I am just trying to manifest this)

With Bates the Lions would have the 2 biggest legged kickers in the NFL…break it down for the people @BigNatty

Depth chart visual.

Bates cant sign until or “technically” negotiate until UFL FA starts. I cant find an official date anywhere. But in XFL and USFL past years it was typically 48 hours after the championship game.

So June 18th.

Now tampering is frowned upon (UFL can fine Bates and NFL can fine team) however I guarantee you that people close to the Lions Organization have reach out to people close to Bates and his agent

100% yes. First (and most obvious), you have a kicker that can put a hole through the FG net, combined with a punter that can put a hole through SkyNet.

Foxy-boy can throw, run, kick, punt, tackle, etc…so the versatility of that weapon is ridiculous.
How does this impact the kicking game, you ask?
Well…Fox’s abilities cause “coverage units” to think about defense…the second you start playing for a blocked punt, he tosses a dime to someone for a first down. This ability causes defenses to not play for the block and scatter their energy between coverage unit as well as playing defense.

As it pertains to kicking…Longer FG attempts result in a lower trajectory of the football, hence more blockable. When the Kicker has a huge leg, it doesn’t impact his trajectory as much, because he can kick with perfect form and doesn’t have to modify to “drive” teh ball as much. Combine that with Fox’s ability to get a perfect hold…even when the long snapper has a ridiculous fuckup…and it helps a lot.

Further…the threat of the fake with Foxy-boy as the holder forces defenses to consider the fake and scatters their energy between blocking a kick and playing defense, which causes them to re-allocate resources and not focus as much on the block (some personnel doing other shit).

Also- when a team kicks off, we get the ball at the 25 on a touchback, and we are literally almost in FG range, if we need to take an attempt to end a half or end a game.

You think Dan coaches aggressively now…wait’ll you see him attempt a 72 yarder to win a game…AND OUR GUY HITS IT!!!
