Detroit Lions Injured Reserve Timeline (Updated)

Lions have activated 3 players this week. And sent Iffy and Rakestraw to IR.

NFL teams are allowed 8 Elevations.
2 of those can come from Preseason IR.
And a Playoff team gets 2 additional elevations for a total of 10.
NFI doesn’t count against elevations. (Ie Mahogany)

So the Lions now have their Maximum allocated IR elevations if they wish to activate all of these guys.

No one is expected back until week 15 (Vs Bills - JRM)
And week 16 for Iffy and Rake.

Everyone else will be elevated in the playoffs if healthy

Iffy, Branch and Kerby out there together could help cover for Anzalone

In preseason Strickland was all over the place. He’s a S, but I swear he was playing WILL snaps.

They were testing him out at Nickel/ Dime to see if he could handle that. Thats the biggest reason why they kept him. The versatility of being able to play, Safety, Nickel/ Dime, And special teams.

Hes just so far down the depth chart.

The article I linked observed him lining up in the ball at an OLB spot, too. Obviously it was just preseason, but he did get a spot in the 53. I wouldn’t bet either way. Lots of decisions upcoming with 3 players IR windows closing.

I had totally missed that JRM was on IR. What happened?
Step up Nowaske, Nieman and MRod.

That’s a crazy amount of injuries on the Def side of the ball!!! Plus Rodriguez missed time too! They’ve more than held their own with guys out. Next man up has actually been good to us.

Any offensive injuries other than LaPorta and Decker(both huge) this year?

The PROVEN defensive depth next year will be absolutely crazy.

Ragnow and Zeitler have each missed a game, but Awosika was serviceable replacing Zeitler and taking OG from Glasgow so he could slide to center. Neither absence stopped the team from winning.

It’s worth noting that the “Return Week” is really a “make up your mind” week. BroMart will either be IR’d for the remainder of the season, waived or added to the 53 this week.

Same decision has to be made next week with Iffy and Moseley.

No other practice window has been opened that I know of.

He got a head/ neck injury at the end of the game last week.

No update since.
But initial report was it SHOULD be short term IR.

^^^^ this exactly.

Bro mart is the only that i can see them cutting/ waving/ keeping on IR.

The others will definitely be back when they are cleared.

And yes no other windows open.

Which JRM and Anzalone cant be opened yet.
And the others are “very late return”

And just like that, the Iffy window closes a week early (due to injury) with him likely remaining on IR.

OK, I jumped the gun. New injury equals a sort of reset on Iffy. So, he’s not completely out of the picture this year.

A little surprised to see Vildor in and not Rakestraw. Wonder if we’re doing the right thing by getting him some snaps before Mosely comes back.

They just signed iffy to the active roster

So i wonder. Sign him to active roster for 24 hours then place him back on IR. So his window can reopen after week 16.

Or stay on active roster and just sit out till hes ready. If they believe it will be less than 4 weeks.

Well see tomorrow

However if they do put him back on IR. Then the lions will only have 1 IR elevation left for the year

I think they can return 8 players from IR during the regular season.

Plus 2 more in the playoffs :cowboy_hat_face:

Heres the updated list.

So you can see If Iffy is placed on IR before Sunday. The Lions will have 1 more IR activation left if they want to bring everyone meaningful back. And he wont be available until week 16 at the earliest

But if they expect him to be ready or close to ready sooner and still be limited in practice, they can keep him on the roster.
