Detroit Lions Schedule OUT 5/15! (Matrix)

Let’s get @ Chicago and @ GB out the way early then.

Home game to start the season

Rams in primetime

Bills thanksgiving makes a lot of sense.

Good call on the sub rated QBs, hopefully we can at least slow down AR15 running the ball a bit and we should be fine that game.

@Chi, @ GB, and @ SF could be nasty too sometimes…when it rains on that long nasty grass field

There is a package of requests that each organization puts together and sends to the league to input into their scheduling software. Rod seems to be getting a better feel for what to request to give us a better schedule outcome. Last year he requested for us to go on the road week 1. He has also been requesting to end the season at home. Opening the season on the road gives a better chance of the NFL agreeing to end the season with a home game.

As far as “no promises,” there are actually some requests that are set in stone. The NFL makes the computer spit out thousands of potential schedules that they review and vote on. But some items are absolutely locked in as deal breakers for that particular team/city. The NFL has the list so I don’t know what they are, I just know the head of scheduling has spoke about them. Some cities can’t support multiple activities at the same time. They don’t have the infrastructure. The Ravens won the Super Bowl but opened the following season on the road because the Ravens and Orioles share a parking lot. The Chiefs and Royals also have a parking situation that makes it extremely problematic for them to host 2 events at the same time. The “non-negotiables” are one of the things that give some teams a really screwed up schedule sometimes.

Going the opposite direction as the below 90 QB list, we face really only 6 games where the opposing QB/offense has enough juice to win the game

Buffalo, SF, Dallas, Houston, 2x GB.

Sorry Matty, I think that ship has sailed, but it’s close.

4 are road games that tbh I’d like to see early so we are as close.to 100% healthy…Unless…we want the young secindary to gel a little more. Maybe the best would be the teams with a great QB but sketchier weapons earlier (Buffalo, GB, Houston before Diggs dials in w Stroud), and for sure one GB game will be late. Dallas and SF maybe midseason?

The schedule doesnt have a lot of layups, but could be worse (AFCE+NFCE)

@SF @Hou @Dal that’s as tough as it gets but last year we had @KC @Balt @Dal and we still got 12

I guess that means we can kill two birds with one stone and get that one out of the way.

I was going to say Houston unlikely because it would be two Texas teams on TG. But the home game point is valid.

Yea i wish we had that list of requests and list of locks but oh well.

But yes a few cities are like that with the stadiums basically next to each other which im sure the NFL tries to space those out the best they can.

PHI, BAL, DET, CIN, KC, DAL.

However Detroit and Dallas definitely have the best infrastructure out of the bunch to handle both at once.

Philly, Cincinnati, Baltimore are all in the heart of downtown, whose city design is not easy to get in and out of.

And KC theres just not enough infrastructure in the middle of no where

Im still shocked we haven’t heard ANYTHING about an official date yet.
Since they started releasing the schedule AFTER the draft its been 2 weeks after. Aka this week.

Should have waited 30 minutes.
Thursday!

Rumors are all ready coming out and usually these are just best guesses. The real leaks start about 24hrs in advance.

^ Teams Lions Could Play.
Makes me feel more confident about JAX.
They are the only team to NEVER play on Thanksgiving

Tb on thanksgiving would make sense if they flex to nfc. Playoff rematch

And old NFC Central Rival.
But it could be anything.

1 Jax - keep it afc and First ever thanksgiving
2 BUF - Keep it AFC, playoff team
3/4 CHI/ GB - most match ups vs Detroit (traditional)
5 TB - Old division rival playoff rematch
6 LAR - Stafford playoff rematch

The rest i cant see. Bad teams/ didn’t make playoffs , Ten, Sea, min

Traditional Match ups for Thanksgiving were.

Detroit vs CHI or GB
Dallas vs ARZ or NYG or WAS
(Arizona When they were in Chi/Stl in the NFC East)

I vote Jax as it would be cool for them to get a TG game.

JAX is like the London ambassador team of the NFL

I don’t think NFL cares much to get them on Turkey day here

Could be wrong but just my view

Its JAX or Bills imo if its AFC

if NFC, 100 percent its the Rams game or a division game (Bears/Vikings, likely Vikes cause we had Bears and Packers most recently)

I see Houston game, Dallas game, one/two of our division games (Bears and @Packers me thinks)

Rams Game and 49ers 100 percent are prime times aswell, i could see a christmas or Saturday game game for sure

The Rams haven’t played on Thanksgiving since before Viagra was a thing?

Plus we absolutely ran them off the field at home last meeting.
