Detroit might favor Dan Campbell

Ick.

This guy seems like a boob to me. During his tenure as interim in Miami, it was nothing but stereotypical tough guy wannabe clichés. I’m not denying he’s a tough guy, just that this schtick isn’t what’s missing in Detroit.

He’s absolute last on my list of serious candidates.

What if he is Dodd’s choice?

"One potential new general manager/head coach pairing for the Detroit Lions has surfaced this week. Current Indianapolis Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds and New Orleans Saints assistant head coach/TE coach Dan Campbell have ties together and could be the next team to lead the Lions.

Dodds has been intricately involved in building perennial playoff teams in both Indianapolis and Seattle. Campbell was a tight end for the Lions who has also served as the interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins."

What would you think , and what coordinaters would fit this scenario opinions please

And welcome to the Den bro !!!

I’ve had a gut feeling he was going to be the pick for a couple weeks now…

I honestly don’t know much about coordinators or other coaches in the NFL. I would say that I am leery simply because of the Saints/Payton connection, any insight on that? I just don’t want a Lombardi situation where it looks like he didn’t have a brain of his own.

I want a coach who players want to follow and bust their ass for because they respect him not because he’s a tough guy. That’s the vibe I have gotten from reading about Dan. He does seem like a cliché.

This has Speilman written all over it I just worry about his demeanor and style the hardass coach doesn’t work these days. That being said if he is hired I will support him till he gives me a reason not to.

I don’t know that he’s a hardass, I just think he’s the kind of guy that thinks winning is the result of keeping the emotion and intensity turned up to 11 at all times.

There’s two problems with this. First, it lacks the organization and strategy that this team needs so badly. Second, it’s unsustainable. These guys are pros and that shit wears thin fast.

He wouldn’t be my favorite pick BUT he’d be a massive upgrade over MP.

He and Spielman are practically the same person so I’m not surprised.

He just doesn’t check any boxes for me. Like not a single one. Experience leading anything is seriously lacking.

Hole?

I’m sure he meant he’ll. Probably a swype error.

So he has a pulse?

So Campbell, Fitzgerald, or Saleh seems to be the rumors? Lewis as a fallback? If that is the scenario, who do you go with and which GM do you pair him with?

Lol I thought it might have been some kind of nickname or something.

You would be an upgrade over MP. That doesn’t necessarily make you better than the 31 other guys on the job, lol .

I’m sorry…just no.

  1. He’s not an X’s And O’s guy.
  2. He doesn’t call plays.
  3. Experience is minimal.
  4. “A leader of men”…maybe but definitely no more than the other candidates.
  5. I agree with those that being up he simply spouts cliches. This will lose its luster with the team after the 3rd game of the season.
  6. Nothing about him seems innovative or creative.
  7. There is not a single other team showing interest.

Am I missing something here? For me this would be a low IQ Mike Tice-like management decision.

Lol he does look like a total meathead.
