Not ā€œinstead ofā€ Jenkins. How about instead of Sasser. I have a feeling Schroeder is going to be a PIA this series.

I smell something fishy… Are you Duren’s agent? Uncle? childhood friend? I’m rooting for him as much as anyone, but want to see the regular season Duren emerge pretty soon.

I have no familial or financial connection to Mr. Duren. I do have a personal animus to people who feel it necessary to hop on the bandwagon of shitting on a player because it is the easy thing to do. Especially if that player is on the team I am rooting for.

Also, I have to assume you either missed last night’s game or didn’t watch the regular season, because last night (and the game before) was pure regular season all-star, 3rd team all-NBA Jalen Duren.

I like Duren that is all.

But I came on here to laugh about the talk radio insanity and how it is all about clicks and rarely anything of substance.

When the STONES were down 1-3 people and hosts were saying how this was a good th8ing because the roster was crappy and they needed to go get better players…

While this may be true, I am not a huge NBA follower. I think it is way more important to have the players and team to experience as much playoff basketball as possible. This is a marathon not a sprint. Build up that knowledge and experience.

And look now that they made it out of the 1st round they look to be locking and getting back to their form. I have no idea if they are good enough to make the Finals but they are in the playoffs and that is the first step required…LOL

Very similar to the Bad Boys growth. That final championship team was a decade in the making. I don’t see a reason though why this team can’t get the the Championship game. OKC would be tough but not insurmountable.

Really? Regular season all star Duren shot 60% from the field. Last night he shot 36%. He was awesome on the boards but I still saw a very big difference.

Edit: Towards the end of the game when Cade was making it a point to get him the ball right under the rim it did look very much like regular season Duren. Just wanted to be fair.

My thoughts exactly

And to be fair I am a 100% fair weather BB fan…I will watch bad NFL all day everyday but unless the Pistons are kicking ass I am not interested.

Yeah. I mean Wendel Carter outplayed him for six of the seven games. Over the series, the Magic’s weakest starter averaged more points, more blocks and more steals than Duren, one of our two all-stars.

He finally was getting open last night with five minutes were left in the fourth quarter and had a great block on Harden, which kind of ignited the team.

There are signs that he’s coming out of his shell but he’s not there yet, he still looks uncharacteristically tentative to me. 11 points is not All NBA third team. Sorry if you don’t want to hear that.

You can call it piling on and shitting on him. Sorry you feel that way. I’ll call it saying what I see and what I see is our second best player during the regular season playing like he doesn’t want contact.

I’ve called him Troy Weaver’s best pick so far, and I’ll still go with that if he continues to make progress to get back to where he was. I would love in a couple days to be able to say ā€œThat’s the Duren we all know and loveā€.

I see our 2nd best player during the regular season playing like a 22 year old kid in the now 3rd playoff series of his career. I see progress. I saw the massive regular season progress he made from his rookie year until now and I now see progress from his first playoff series to his 3rd.

But see that is kinda the catch22 with nba max contracts. Typically you pay for potential and trajectory, question is what more can he do and when will he be able to do it?

Duren was 1-9 or so with 6-7 rebounds going into the 4th. It was a close game for many reasons, a big one was Duren awful play. Those stats dont include how many times he didnt get a contested rebound. I mean the guy is 7ft tall and young. If plays 30 minutes and CANT get 10 rebounds, what the hell is doing out there. His job is to stand under the basket.

Anyways - for 3/4 the game most of the leagues backups would have given us his production. That is not a $50 million man. Case closed.

Are you sure?

Here’s what he’s done in the playoffs (points/rebounds/assists/steals/blocks)

Knicks: 11.8/ 10.7/ 3.5/ 0.3/ 1.7

Magic: 10.6/ 9.4/ 2.1/ 0.4/ 1.3

Cavs (one game): 11/ 12/ 4/ 0/ 2

I have more expectations than what he’s shown so far in these playoffs for a max contract player. That’s all.

Yes, I am sure. He has progressed from the beginning of the playoffs to now. He was a +17 on the court last night, the best +/- of every player that played in the game.

Okay, counsel, I will make sure to make every evaluation only on the first 3 quarters of every game from now on.

Also, the game got closer because the Cavs started chuckin’ up and making 3s, or getting long rebounds off of their misses and then throwing floaters up. How many inside points did Mobley or Allen get? And you don’t think that Duren had anything to do with that? Case Open.

I’m the least qualified basketball opinion person on this board. I thought Duran played pretty well last night though

I think the pistons should hire me.

I’m 100% confident I could help them a ton.

I agree, played well, he could do better, everyone could do better.

But with JD— he apparently needs 20 pts and 15 RB’s a game if ā€œwe’reā€* going to pay a max deal…. I’m just a normal fan; I just care about winning for now and debate the max deal this summer. Enough stuff to worry about… JD’s future contract is not on my list.
