This team and makeup is similar to the lions and the tigers in my opinion. Young homegrown talent learning together and becoming much , much better, It’s fun to watch and I’m doing my best to get back into NBA mode which which isn’t easy.
The Wings, Pistons and Tigers have to be halfway competent, or show signs of getting there, for me to pry my eyes away from the Lions. The Pistons are definitely doing that.
He was. But cade, duren are his players he drafted. His problem was coaching, and FA signing/trades.
The three pointer has just become too easy with today’s athletes.
Its really simple math. In the 80’s, a good two point shooter shot 50% (give or take). 50% of 2 is an average of 1 point per shot. Which meant you had to shoot 33% from three to average that same one point. As players started shooting 35%, 38% and 40% from three, it just made sense to emphasize three point shooting.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the Pistons could change that narrative. Again - simple math. Cade, Duren and Ausar, if they averaged 60% on two point shots (I haven’t looked it up, but I bet they’re there) could do it. If they could do it as a team, they would have an expected points of 1.2 (0.60 x 2) on two point shots. Which would be the same as a very good 40% three point shooter (0.40 x 3 - 1.2). It looks like in the Nets game, they easily beat that 60% mark. (43 for 59 = 73%).
For the most part, I agree. Although his first draft pick ever for the Pistons was Killian Hayes over Tyrese Haliburton. Cade was a no-brainer, Duren was a very good pick. Beef Stew as well.
I think you dont get cade if you dont draft hayes. Beef needs to stay healthy
I’m not sure, you don’t think Haliburton and Cade could co-exist? (Haliburton wasn’t good until year 3, we’d still likely have the same pick). Also consider that he was offered SGA and the 6th pick for Cade. Imagine a back court of Haliburton, SGA and Giddey. We’d be on our third banner. (OK, that’s hyperbole…but Hayes was an idiotic pick). Ugh, why are we talking about Troy Weaver, anyway….LOL.
But Weaver didn’t want Williams, the choice was forced on him.
Weaver drafted the core of this team. It’s not like we are relying on a FA signing from Langdon to be a difference maker.
I think we don’t get the #1 pick if Haliburton is on this team.
Check Haliburton’s rookie numbers. Not a difference maker. The rest of our team was really bad. But even if you want to play that out, you’d be getting someone like Evan Mobley or Scotty Barnes, that draft was loaded.
You have a point about Weaver not picking Monty. Shouldn’t blame Weaver for Monty. Still I’m glad he’s gone. We’ve been talking about how bad Johnny Morton is in front of the press. Weaver was even worse. Except for that joke about Halle Berry.
No im saying pistons probably dont get the number one pick if they drafted differently
I didn’t want to buy the NBA subscription this early in the season, but I might have to now.
Duren turning a corner is a game changer for this team.
I understood that. I don’t think it would have mattered.
And Bickerstaff is one hell of a great coach. Very impressive. Especially after that non-caring, shit stain Monty Williams tenure.
Big test tonite in Philly. Maxey leads the league in scoring…Ausar has his work cut out.
Cade hurt? Zero points
Pistons win. Cade i think 24 in 2nd half
I didn’t expect a win tonight. CC was amazing down the stretch.
The Pistons are for real.
I need more faith in them… I went to the pitt/lac game at half time. I didn’t like the way CC was playing the 1st/2nd quarters- sloppy.
That bucket to end the game from Cade was clutch
