Detroit Pistons pick #21 in the draft

I really really like Trey Murphy. I think he would be perfect for this team.

I would consider trying to trade up for Yaxel Lendeborg. Seems like he would bring scoring, ball handling, and good defense and definitely being physically ready.

I would trade Beef Stew, Det’s #21 & Det’s 2027 1st Rounder for Yaxel. Throw in Holland & LaVert for Sweeteners….Still might not be enough for Yaxel, unfortunately….

Drafting Mara for Beef Stew and some related combo above is more feasible, IMO.

Mara is going top 10.

In fact don’t be too shocked if the Clippers just take him at 5

Transferring to Michigan turned out to be the smartest decision of Mara’s life. I doubt he would have even been drafted if he stayed at UCLA. Cronin didn’t seem very fond of him for whatever reason.

Meanwhile Dusty turns him into a top 10 draft pick. May is special. We are so lucky to have him.

Seeing Golden, Wolfe and now Mara all have some success at UM and then Wolfe with some albeit minor, success in the NBA.

May’s got a proven track record of multiple bigs working well while on the floor together. Great start to his UM career.

We should draft Yinka Dare.

No chance in hell he goes top 5. Not in this draft.

What? Why? It’s a great draft. 21 will get you a late lottery talent many drafts.

And if you really want a rotation player right away there are specialists as well. 21 is too high for Momcilolvic but it’s rare shooting. Trade back and add a particular skillset.

It’s not that we couldn’t get a good player at 21. It’s that we wouldn’t get any player that would be very good until Cade is like 28 years old. We need to win now while he’s in his prime, not in four years from now.

It took Cade and Duren both four years to become all stars, so that’s the timeline I’m going with.

And yes, we do need another all star level scorer. When this team inevitably gets eliminated, it will be due to a lack of scoring. To improve upon whatever our end result is, we need to improve in that area. For teams like ours, that is almost always done through trade.

Unless we win the championship next month in which case I really don’t care what we do.

Agreed. Top four is locked up and then one of the Guards after Peterson. I see Wagler at 5 a lot but man does that juice seem iffy to me. Perhaps he’s so skilled that it doesn’t matter. Acuff would be an easy number 5 but man is the defense dogshit.

Mara may go top ten. Tougher for centers to go high then it used to be but he was so damn dominant by the end of the year and he’s the style of center with some additional shooting range that you can play a ton without matchup concerns.

But you’re not looking for an All Star at 21.

Lions drafted U of M this year Pistons might as well too

Crazy, kid improved a lot in the one year UM.

But this team needs an all star caliber scorer.

I don’t particularly care whether or not we can draft one at 21. If we do end up drafting someone, I hope we trade up into the lottery. It’s not very hard to do.

No chance I do that trade, absolutely none. Lots of Maize and Blue colored glasses if you think Yaxel is worth that haul.

How are you going to get that with the 21st pick?

Dumping these two here as defacto draft thread for time being.

You won’t, which is why you trade up. Or trade the pick and other picks for an established NBA player.

Please see the draft day trade the Timberwolves and Grizzlies made for Rob Dillingham to see what the value of NBA draft picks is these days.
