Detroit restaurants are now eligible for Michelin star ratings

Very big news!

For a long time it was only New York, Chicago, LA.

Recently they have started to include other cities like Atlanta, DC, Denver, Miami.

Why do restaurants get a rating from a tire?!?!

Why would any restaurant be ineligible to receive any restaurant award?

Seriously…..anyone here Ever have a meal in Detroit that would Michelin?

Chicago you have to work hard to not find one between current and former. Also, there’s literally a thousand more that are awesome.

I have my go to’s in Detroit and some are wonderful, but “up and coming” is maybe a stretch. Better than Cleveland I guess

Ill have to find them again.

I remember looking last year (after watching “The Bear”) for fancy restaurants in Detroit.

There were definitely a handful of restaurants that were WAY out there. Like the food didnt look like food. It was straight up art.

Mobil also used to do this, and I knew someone who’s job was to test and rate restaurants for them (someone has to do it). Basically, you need feet on the ground to do this, that’s why it was limited to major metro areas.

I’m a fan of D’Amato’s in Royal Oak. Not sure if it’s hoity toity enough for Michelin, but the steaks “were” amazing back in the day. Michelin can keep their ratings. If I’m anywhere near the D, I’m getting a Loui’s freaking Pizza!
