Maeda one pitch one HR, and here comes the judge
Well 15pitches and 3 solo shots for Maeda,
Spin him off to the Yankees! Oh, waitâŚdamn
None of the homers were no-doubters.
âItâs hard to evaluate on a day like today,â manager A.J. Hinch said, âbecause I think he did get a little bit of bad luck with balls in the air. He did miss a few bats. He did have a few deep counts. Itâs a mixture of everything, but weâll take the good.â
The Wells home run wouldâve been a homer in two of 30 MLB ballparks (the other being Angel Stadium), the Goldschmidt homer wouldâve been a homer in none of the other 29 ballparks, and the Grisham homer wouldâve been a homer in two of 30 ballparks (the other being Yankee Stadium).
Good color.
The Yankees w/o Gil and Cole are in trouble. Rodon has been healthy eevry other year for 4 years, but was a health disaster his first 6 years. Career high in IP last year, unsustainable strand rate.
Thatâs now your #2 starter. Fried is gonna face better hitting than he did in the NL. Schmidt overperformed his estimators by a full run. Stroman is fine as a 4, but he is really their 3 IMO.
Nah, they are finishing 3rd or 4th. Bully will be good, but they lost Soto and Stanton and replaced with Bellinger and Goldy? Meh.
Maeda may be a better flip in May/June, as I bet they go out and sign Kyle Gibson or Lance Lynn
Went from an elite staff to mediocre real fast.
And Stroman was terrible the 2nd half of last year. ERA of 5.98 after the all star break.
Yankees fans in shambles. ![]()
Just bought tickets for tomorrowâs Tiger/Yankees game, first and only one of the spring as we were rained out a cpl weeks back.
Would like to see Meadows start baseball work this week and possibly get into a game in time to be ready for opening day.
Tigers have been tight lipped on injuries vs prior Tiger front offices so may mean nothing may mean he is out for a bit.
Nothing new on Parker Meadows
Thereâs no new information on Meadows.
Thatâs concerning.
NERVY ISSUE: MLB doctor explains when Tigersâ Parker Meadows could return from nerve issue
The Tigers and Meadows continue to wait for the nerve in his arm to reactivate, but no one knows when that will happen. Until it does, Meadows wonât be cleared for full baseball activities, including throwing and two-handed swinging. He hasnât played since Feb. 22, the first game of spring training.
Itâs becoming increasingly likely that Meadows will be ruled out for Opening Day, which is March 27.
The Tigers havenât made a final decision, but if Meadowsâ status doesnât improve within the next few days, the Tigers could be forced to find a new center fielder â at least for the first series of the regular season.
Mize with 3.1 scoreless today, however 3bbâs.
Up to 70 pitches
Tork aint making it easy, another HR today.
2-0 Tigers on his 2 run shot
If you would have told me 2 months ago that Baez Maeda and Torkelson would be in the opening day lineups I would have screamed bloody murder for a week
I told you last year donât give up on him. Yes he was terrible last year. But the dude did hit 31 homers and drive in 95 runs at age 23. Thatâs pretty rare. Pitchers figure young guys out so itâs all about making the right adjustments.
I say he hits 25 bombs this year! ![]()
He needs to hit 250 or OBP 350 or OPS 750 if he is at 25 bombs as a DH to be north of 1 WAR. 2 WAR is a MLB average regular. 4 is good player, 5 is All Star 7+ MVP range.
I agree with you. Go look at Vladâs 2023 stats compared to Tork. They are surprisingly very similar. How soon Jays fans forget about that.
Pretty sure you can get Tork for only 30m a year for 10 years, considerable savings over what Vlad wants. I mean, you know, similar performance and all. Simple swap of the players and you will save a shit ton of dollars with that Tork dealâŚ
I know you are kidding⌠But give me Tork for 5 mill over Fatty V for 500 million over 14 years.
Imagine what a team could do with 500 million on players that arenât slow, soon to be DHâs
Piss it away on other fat guys with less talent?
