Detroit Tigers

Me, yes, it was his biggest blunder no doubt about it. I don’t know what was promised by ER agent, ER himself, or even the Dodgers but it is SH fault at the end of the day. I expect he learned a valuable lesson that will make him better going forward.

Overall, I love what this group has done from the minors to the major league level. The weakness of this franchise has been development for decades now. They are making significant strides forward in my too early opinion, in that area.

Overall, his first year, I put him at an A- maybe a B+. But my grading is more based on changes that needed to be made at every level in this organization than the ER situation which is why he doesn’t have an A from me. I know former Tiger minor league players and people in the organization and to say the organization was a shit show in many ways is kind.

I like the future of the Tigers, a lot.

I think it was more a failure of Scott Harris’s predecessor to negotiate the contract that gave ER a unilateral out. Desperate men do desperate things–as we witnessed with the Quinn-Patricia regime.

Good point.

I also think that Avila, for all his warranted criticism, had a few good drafts the last couple of years. Thankfully, the development of those players are under a new group.

Those two decades coincide with 1 guy.

David Chadd.

India will cost us Manning.

Not sure I like that, especially at the moment with no ERod…makes our #2 starter…umm…Mize? Ugh.

Rather try our internal guys, 2 of which are 2b/3b in Keith and Jung.

Now, if they sign Nola and a solid #4 vet like say Wade Miley? Sure.

Detroit has a baseball team?

Super Freak Flirting GIF by Rick James

This is awesome news. Really surprised he left his childhood home team. Massive upgrade over Matt Shepard. Though the mute button was an upgrade over Shep.

Nola* Skubal Manning Mize Olson
Lange, Holton, Foley, Vest, Brent Suter*,Brieske, Faedo,

C-Rogers, Kelly
1b-Tork
2b-Keith (r)
SS- Baez
3b- Lipcius(r)

LF-Canha*
CF-P Meadows
RF-Carpenter
DH-Greene

OF-Vierling Baddoo
UT-McKinstry, Ibanez.

JHM and Jung up during season as Greene shifts back to OF, DH rotates Carpenter/JHM, Jung takes 3b. Team could go 8 relievers and one of UT guys gies down or they share 3b and Lipcius stays AAA.

JHM ready but Greene at DH blocks him, so he stays in minors to work on D.

If not Nola, Stroman or Snell, in that order.
Harris saves some bullets for 2025 FA, $ wise, and could see a SP trade in 25 if Jung doesnt take to 3b and Jobe looks ready.

Dan Dickerson, Ernie Harwell’s successor, does a great job.

100% agree, Dan is awesome. Big shoes to fill, obviously, but he has made it his own. Hes probably top 5 in MLB today.

Are you putting Greene over carpenter at DH to keep him healthy?

Yes, this has been talked about widely here. He had UCL surgery in his non throwing elbow, so we may be jumping thr gun a bit. Im notnsurenif Harris/Hinch have talked about doing it that way, but I thought I read them talking about that

Very good question….my brother was just saying that when I talked to him last week

Jung wins Minor Leagues Gold Glove at 2b.

28 bombs, half in a rough hitting envirinment in G-Rap, 3 errors in 450 chances at second. Now playing 3b in AFL, as Colt Keith’s arm strength crapped out and he looks tied to 2b.

I think the club really needed Carpenter to move off DH only so they can get Keith a potential landing spot if his D is trash at 2b.

Then again, if he is Jeff Kent v2.0, I dont care about his glove

Reading Trammell gush about Jung at third base I would definitely pencil in Colt K as the Tigers starting second baseman, as if it wasn’t already done.

Sounds like Jung did well per his coach and Trammell.

“Watching every ball he touched, during limited games, he was able to play — he was tested: diving plays, making plays down the line, the accuracy of his arm, the carry, I said: ‘Damn — this is great. It’s fun.’

“He can play third base. And I’m confident in saying that. You need to get tested in some games, and he made some really nice plays. His arm strength. His accuracy. I’m raving about him.”

Trammell’s view was in line with critiques offered by Jung’s manager with the AFL’s Salt River Rafters, Javier Colina.

“I know he’s going to be fine,” said Colina, who manages the Arizona Diamondbacks Double-A team, Amarillo. “He doesn’t have that much experience there, but the more you see him daily take ground balls, you see that with more repetitions, he’s going to be fine.

“I caught first base many times during infield drills, and he had such an unbelievable arm. Oh, my god, the ball coming out of his hand — like wow! He has the arm strength to be a pitcher. His arm’s unbelievable.

“The most important thing was he learned, with his footwork, to create better angles for ground balls. The preparation, the effort, the great attitude – I’m so proud of him. He’s such a great kid.”

Now, the heavier test for a 23-year-old, left-handed hitter and first-round Tigers draft pick (12th overall, 2022): Playing third base, regularly, next spring (and probably well into summer) at Triple-A Toledo as a prelude to a probable Tigers call-up in 2024.
