That was the last thing I heard before I jumped in….
7 inches of snow and a full weekend was laid out in front of me. Trapped in a home, but free to roam the world wide web. I searched, I consumed, I listened and learned. It’s the car crash that you can’t turn away from, the eyes peeking through the fingers hiding your face looking at something you know you can’t unsee.

If you do know this infamous name and story - help me digest what has entered my brain - I’m having a difficult time processing what might be the most complex human story I’ve ever learned about.
It was like watching a movie where Forrest Gump is starring in Harmony Korine’s Kids. There are moments in the story that remain beyond my capacity to understand.
Chris was definitely a victim, but was he born a monster or was he a monster created by the humans who surrounded him? It is a real life horror story where the victim of the story is hated at the end. Yet I can’t seem to come to terms with putting any blame on him.
He’s a high functioning autistic person, who’s also a sociopath with narcissistic tendencies, born into a family that failed him, a school system that could not handle him, and unleashed onto a small town to cause destruction and chaos.
Then the internet found him….
What these people did to this autistic man was beyond shocking. Like a puppet on a string they controlled almost every aspect of his life. He just kept eating humiliation after humiliation that would’ve destroyed most humans.
His story is the best reminder that the internet isn’t real and shouldn’t intrude into your real life any more than a newspaper would have in the past.
Also a reminder that there are a lot of unfortunate lonely souls in the world, both those who manipulated him and Chris himself.
How do you explain the “Liquid Chris” troll done by a future doctor and cancer researcher? He doesn’t seem like an evil person but yet he participated in Chris Chan’s manipulation.
There are so many layers to this story.
The same people who destroyed Chris’s life, now protect him at all cost. They actively attack any new trolling attempts made on him. They worship him as a cult figure, one that they themselves created.
…and his mother. I haven’t been that blindsided by a shocking revelation since the ending of “The Mist”. It’s beyond description.
How did this story elude me after 30+ years of being chronically online? I just discovered this story last Friday night and I’m still processing it all after 5 days.
I’m a little surprised that you didn’t hear about it all until now if you are the type that hangs around the edgier parts of the internet.
The fact that the trolls now protect him is pretty typical of abusive situations in my opinion.
It’s a really interesting case though, if you look too close you will find some really disgusting things done by the trolls.
Note that when I said lonely souls, that isn’t to say that some of them couldn’t become successful doctors or whatever. Just that they were at that time missing something in their life that Lionfrog is hopefully referring to.
Not a dark web or gore enthusiast. Quite the opposite (still haven’t watched the Hutch leg break)
I was watching an interview on Friday night and someone made an off-hand reference about Chris Chan ans said “do not go down that rabbit hole”……. and I was googling a few seconds later out of curiosity.
There is a reason this story is buried in the basement of the internet.
Just curious, how did everyone else stumble upon this story?
All I know is some dude who thought he was a lady was banging his elderly mom. Something in regards to that. That was more than enough info for me to tap out. Good heavens what an insane world
This guy was extremely homophobic but failed over and over to attract a girlfriend. The internet convinced this autistic man that he was a failure as a man and should try living as a woman. So he leans into the “Tom Girl” lifestyle as a straight male who pursues lesbian woman. You can’t make this up. I said it above, it’s beyond my brains capacity to understand. These are real humans that we have to share a floating rock with in space.
I don’t mean to introduce this internet junk to people. My intent was to find some other people that already know this story before me, to help me digest this story a little easier. I was having a hard time processing it all. The details of the story are horrific. I was and still am fascinated by the human side of this story.
