Draft Day Partners

What are your thoughts on the most likely partners if we move up or down?

I feel like Miami is the most likely trade up partner, to move just ahead of a number of teams that would want an OL. I could only see that for Freeling or Bain if Brad wants them.

Depends on who falls. I could see the Rams being in the mix.

Rams & Seahawks nether has 4th or 5th round picks.

Seattle only has 1 total day 3 pick.

If we are looking to trade up to the end of round 3 those are our partners

I feel like the Jags will always be likely partners, since their GM worships the ground Brad walks on. We’ve already traded twice in the year he’s been there, the TeSlaa trade up and Tim Patrick.

Of course they don’t pick until late day 2, so any trade involving them would be later.

Unless we trade out of the 1st entirely for some late round and 2027 capital

Right. Unless we do that. Frankly I would be pretty stunned if anyone gave up 2027 1sts to move up to 17 in this draft, but we can always hope!

A first round trade with Miami, Kansas City, Cleveland or Pittsburgh would be sweet, especially if the return is as inflated as it frequently is on mock draft generators. My sense is that we’ll still be able to get one of Blake Miller, Max Iheanachor or Kadyn Proctor after trading back–and hopefully 2 edges, one at #50 and another with the added capital plus one of our 4ths. In an ideal dream world.

Of course all these prospects aren’t interchangeable Lego pieces for Brad, so forget everything I wrote.

I imagine he really likes doing business with Brad.

Heh, you seem to be fast becoming a pessimist. I hate to see it happen in real time!

I don’t see any roses or sunshine from last season. The 2 games we played against the Vikings actually make me feel sick. The preparation and performance in those 2 games is the only thing that stands out in my memory of last season.

GB loss on thanksgiving

Robbed against the Steelers controversial ending

Shit the bed against a bad Minnesota team

Play well last game of the year meaningless game

Free agents not really wanting to come here anymore unless we overpay or take the discount guys

Good quality players leaving

Chasing Signing Bonus money payback

….

Could this be the SOL ?

I don’t either, but I don’t see any cause for all-out panic either.

Disagree completely that it was meaningless.

Also this is just a story in your head. Some guys, maybe, but Mays specifically said it was our staff that brought him here over other options. Including Ryans and Houston, who I know offered him more money.

The other things I can pass off as injuries and lucky plays didn’t go our way. The 2 losses against that bad Vikings team just get under my skin. The first one when we were coming off a bye week. I guess I wanted to see Dan as angry as I was. Of course he just said we have a few things we have to clean up. The next time we played them they kicked our ass inside and out and basically eliminated up from the playoffs.

My HOPE is they can trade back 10ish spots, still pick up an OT there (Max/Miller) and pick up a 3rd this year.

Unless we have a Sewell-esque fall by an OT like Freeling or Mauigoa

I think the Dolphins at 30 would be a good move. They currently hold 4 3rd round picks. Lets get 2 of them.

Maybe like our 1st 5th and 6th for their 1st and 2 3rds?

Depends on which 3rd… I’d be happy with just 75… If they don’t want to part with that one, I’d take 2 of the other 3 (87/90/94)

Most likely overall: nobody

Trading down is always the dream, but it’s very rarely possible because it requires a team wanting to trade up into our specific slot. Trading up feels unlikely too because there is a need to find several contributors in this draft and trading away picks isn’t how that’s going to happen

Most likely trade up: Baltimore (14) or Tampa (15)

A small trade up to go and get our guy, like in 2024 for TA, feels the most likely trade up scenario

Most likely trade down: Dallas (20)

It’s hard to see there being only one potential blue chip player left at 17, and for us to not want to take him, but Dallas likes a trade so them

When I was mulling why someone would want to trade with us before the Vikings pick at #18, DT came to mind. My blind spot was that the Vikings are desperate for CB help, which @Thats2 suggested. So that potential blue chip play could be Jerrod McCoy. Dallas certainly would be interested, Pittsburgh too.
