Draft talk 2025/2026

Also IMO we should take an outside CB in the first four to five rounds pending how the board unfolds. That and EDGE and Safety are the spots where I think they’ll be legit dudes in early day 3.

Maybe LB too, but those are the depth positions for sure. And iOL, there’s always depth there it seems.

WILL has really taken a hit IMO. Still good but many of my guys got hurt or went back.

Speaking of Lber Jack Kelly as a different kind of pass rush specialist and ST ace is of interest to me if the value is right.

But that doesn’t fill the AA hole.

I feel like you could throw a TE in there too.

Honestly I think I’d troll some practice squads/other rosters for TEs. There have been a lot of really good classes the past few years, and as TE takes a few years to hit, there are about to be some out of nowhere guys really start to thrive imo.

Thought about it but I need to look at the class more closely.

True, and Husker was pointing to value. It just depends though. I really like guys like Delp and Klein day three, but the draft board has a way of shaking out and guys that seem like value end up going higher.

My initial sense was that most of the TEs I liked were more move types. Not sure that’s what we need. Depends on Sam’s prognosis.

If Sam is expected to be fine that I’d prefer either an old school Y type or a joker. Or both. I’m hopeful that Meeks as Zylstra is the plan for a Joker type.

I think Delp has a very good chance of going day 2. In fact I’d be surprised if he didn’t. Klein should make it to day 3 though, along with other guys I like. Koziol, Royer, Velling. But like @CuriousHusker says, most of them are move TEs, and those are a little big dime-a-dozen.

Now I really love Will Kacmarek, he’s a crush of mine, but he’s the opposite. All blocker who maybe sometimes will give you a catch or two.

Is Delp actually good at football though. I can see the athleticism but I’ve been waiting forever for him to take off.

Sounds like a hipster euphemism for a pancake block. Actually it may sound less polite.

Great, thanks. Now I won’t be able to avoid hearing it that way when the draft space starts to wax poetic about his blocking.

Back to back Miami picks. Would really like this. FM is one of
My favorite first round possibilities and while I prefer Scott out of the two older Miami guys, the moneyball philosophy of front loading WAR into contract one makes sense to me given this NIL impacted draft group.

Both Mesodor and Scott are probably round 1 guys this year if they’re 23. Close to it at least.

Mesidor for sure. That said I don’t know that I could have passed on McCoy at that spot, but Mauigoa is one of my favorite options too, so a really good consolation prize.

If Decker retires I would. I believe in FM as an elite RT.

I believe there’s a good chance he would at least be at Decker’s level as a RT. But to me if you want the elite version, gotta move him inside.

Agree to disagree. He’s the Darnell Wright profile. Average to slightly above average in pass pro (elite against power, some issue with bend and protecting the arc in general) and uber elite in the run game. That is an elite RT in our system IMO.

Fair enough, it could work out that way. I see that ceiling pretty clearly. I just don’t think he’s certain of reaching it. I think the pass pro issues vs speed are, not quite alarming, but worse than you’re letting on. Not that he can’t improve, not that we can’t mitigate for it. I just don’t love him against anyone with any juice. Parsons makes everyone look bad, but I think there could be a yard of space between he and Mauigoa as he blows past (yes, exaggerating for effect).

Then again I also didn’t like Darnell Wright, so that checks out. I also don’t think Mauigoa is quite as good of an athlete as Wright, though they’re in the same ballpark.

It’s too bad the NFL banned allowing teammates to help an offensive lineman who is given a tough assignment.

The flip side is Parsons would be bartered as hell after an afternoon against Penei AND Francis.

Also, the idea of being ambidextrous on OT pull gap stuff makes me gleeful. No matter where he goes on run plays we can pull a Samoan freak show to annihilate him
