Everson Griffen

Rumor is that Clowney will stay put in Seattle. Which means Griffin would be headed elsewhere. I’d be fine with signing him here. Nothing helps a secondary like a good pass rush and he delivers it.

Wouldnt mind him here also wouldnt mind clay Matthew’s on a 1 year pass rushing specialist role deal.

see, that’s why you’re not a GM;

bad enough Griffens is on the wrong side of 30 to be paying big bucks to;

Matthews can’t cover anymore and his pass rush has lost a step and maybe more;

Pass rush specialist. Basically have him come in on passing downs to rush the qb. He has lost a step but still picked up 8 sacks last year. He wouldnt be starting he would just play a role on the team

too close to the wrong side of thirty;

too many miles on the body;

too many bucks wanted;

Wonder what his mental status is these days. I know he had some issues the last couple years.

I’d take him in a heartbeat. He impacts every game.

Hopefully, we get him and he is bat shit ■■■■■■■ crazy. About time we had a guy with actual passion or craziness. Suh was the last guy with any desire and the opponents were open mouthed trying to figure him out. Now we have nothing. I want a bad egg or two. Don’t have to be murderers, but guys who push back and are vocal leaders.

I don’t think he’s passionate type crazy like Romanowski, hes more schizophrenia crazy. At least when he’s off his meds.

forget mental status;

just plain no;

More sacks, more TFL, more QB hits last year than Trey Flowers. Even had an INT and 2 PD. Flowers had none of either.

Griffen is a better all around player than Flowers, even at his age. A one year incentive laden deal, should be a no brainer. Why wouldn’t we want good depth at pass rushing, when we had the worst pass rush in the league next year?

I would prefer a veteran on a 1 yr deal when you look at what this season may or may not be.

A veteran like Griffen would have a quicker impact than relying on a rookie when you don’t know what type of preseason teams will have plus no OTA’s etc etc. A small overpay for a short term deal with all the unknowns that 2020 will bring, do it.

On a line with Danielle Hunter and Linval Joseph… while Flowers played with Snacks (gone bc of bad play), Robinson (gone bc of ineffective play) and Owkara (average at best) and the worse LB corp in the league. I’m not giving Flowers any excuses, but he didn’t have the advantages Griffen did.

Yeah you are, Flowers is overrated by all patriot wanna be’s. And Linval Joseph is a avg player at best.

And he was still recovering from an injury early in the season. After a slow start, once his health improved, Flowers actually performed as well as he had in prior years.

And he’s under-rated by all Patricia/Quinn haters… The truth is in the middle, try being objective for once

Don’t get me wrong I like Flowers good solid player but he not as good as Griffin at rushing the passer in my opinion. But Saying he was surrounded by better players then listing Joseph . He as avg as our guys. People keep blaming everything here on the players but 80 percent of the problem was Patricia scham and his unwillingness to adjust it to the players, this is why so many players spook up and wanted out of here. And yeah I do dislike both Quinn and Patricia they took my Lions team from finely being respected to being once again the laughing stock of the NFL. TV shows, NFL People April Fool’s jokes. I mean they earned it.
but I’m not Totally negitive, gave props on draft and have defended them. I also think this Offense will be top 5 with out major injury’s. But the Defense will only improve if Patricia steps back and Letts undin modify his defense. I believe we have players to complete it’s our coaching and defenseive philosophy that has held us back. People say what they will but part of the issue was players not believing in Patricia philosophy and his unwillingness to ajust.

There are very few people that don’t think Trey Flowers is a good player.

The problem is he’s paid like he’s a superstar and he just isn’t.

That’s not hate, that’s a reasonable opinion.

Lots of reasonable opinions. There are discrepancies in defining “superstar” too. Flowers got a lot of attention because of little/no help, as well as does many things other than sack the QB (not really what he’s known for). I don’t recall him giving up contain even once. Also, they use him in other ways. I’m thankful we have him.

He is a really good player and a great fit here. And your right his value isn’t just a pass rushers he is also really good against the run. Good all round player. And definitely a piece of the pie you want.
