Everybody cool yet? Ok, we're still ok

I still think this team wins the division. I still think this team is a SB contender. I believe DC figures it out. I trust in him.

Why are people down on Jamo? I saw people complaining about him. Usually I’m the guy doing that. The guy had a great game with an incredible TD. I do think he’s a high end WR3 and they should just focus on his speed. Stop trying to make him into ARSB.

The positives I saw in this game is usuing Sam Laporta (but they got away from him :man_facepalming: ), even though DMo fumbled (great play from behind), he was making plays. And Agaiun, Jamo was involved finally. Its like Morton opened up the playbook some and stop being so vanilla with 3 guys. Or was it Goff? Goff is a good QB man.

That’s about it. Choice sucks. They raved about him, but Scotty was the man! And I don’t want to hear about how your favorite thing is an RB blocking. Cool. Great! BUT NO!

Gibbs and DMo need to be played the way they should be played.

Why can’t this team just look at last season?

I am not as down on the OL as some of you. They have played shockingly well. They had no business playing this well during the season. Brad can just draft a OG in the n6th and 2nd and they’re supposed to be great?! Like what? It’ll take time, but I am still very impressed.

But really, Brad Holmes drafting injured players or soon to be injured players is weird! Frazier should jump in here, but he’s hurt like everyone else.

Anyway, the Lions aren’t unbeatable. They had a bad game still very winnable game. Penalties killed them. I do believe DC will get it right.

no, I’m wondering if we can pull it together fast enough to beat Washington, I was very confident we would beat Minny , It’s the way we lost it, and it took the optimism out of me…in a big way.

Great post, and people cannot be down on Jamo and Morton. One is the cause, and I think we learned who that was yesterday.

These two sentences back to back is some funny stuff. The OL is exactly why this offense doesn’t look like it did last season. In games that they don’t get dominated, the offense looks close to what it was last year. In games where they are bullied, it looks like it did yesterday. They’re suspect in pass protection and terrible in run blocking.

That’s it. The iOL guys are young. Graham is old and sucks in run blocking. Decker is being held together by tape. This offense will go as far or as short as the OL allows them.

Agree 100% the OL is the key to the offense. It’s not shocking the Oline struggled against Flores in our first game against him without Ragnow. But special teams were so bad. We score in the first possession then give up a 61 yard return and give JJ a short field. Was a total team failure and really is on Dan to fix. God where was the run defense today? You are playing a quarterback starting his 3rd game and we give up 140 yards rushing???

I had this game as a possible loss

I have Washington without Thier QB as a win still

Can we go deep in the playoffs or even make the playoffs? I have no clue…

Prepare for and beat Washington…. Nothing else matters

I do as well. The division and the NFC are all up for grabs. Every team has holes and struggles. More this year than most. But in order to get there we need to be more healthy on the defensive secondary and we need to learn how to pick up blitzes packages on the IOL. Both GB and MIN exploited that IOL in a similar fashion. We have to fix that.

I don’t think we are but getting him more involved in the short and intermediate passing game is a must. He’s too good not to.

I am whole heartedly disagreeing with this one. Our OL was flat out the main reason we lost this game. Especially the IOL… they gave up 5 sacks and caused a missed FG. these guys have struggled with blitz pick-ups and bull rushes all season but only GB and MIN have dialed it up like that on us. They’re young and learning and they should learn from this. How quickly they do will determine how we finish but PHI and GB will likely attack us with exotic blitzes. We should be on the phone today trying to find a veteran IOL before the trade deadline. I’m convinced GG is not the answer at C.

I’d like to point out two players on defense.

Maulett had a bad game and was the weakest link in our secondary. MIN targeted him 4 times on 3rd down and converted for a big gain each time. That can’t happen.

Hutch lost containment on 4 big runs. He was too overly aggressive and bit towards the middle and the RB busted outside for a big run gain. He has to secure that edge. A man of his caliber and pay scale needs to have more patience…. I know this is uncharacteristic of him so I’m not worried but it’s the truth. He cost us yesterday and it should be said.

The next few weeks will tell us if this team can correct the IOL problems.

Last year we were piecing together a D Line, with some success. This year it’s the O Line with Decker and Graham still walking, but… Is it a panic move to start Colon against the Commies? I’m curious, in a fanboy sort of way. Are we gonna wait until a worn-down twilight Glasgow can’t get up at the Sunday bell?

I never thought I’d be so interested this season about when Manu comes off the IR. Halloween hasn’t ended…

Despite all the sky is failing if any one of these things happen we win the game or at least go into overtime:

  • don’t have a field goal blocked
  • Monty doesn’t fumble
  • AA takes a proper angle on JJ’s scramble
  • Amik doesn’t hold on the int

Surely there are others that I am forgetting. We played terribly today but despite that were in a position to win that game if we just avoided some uncharacteristic and untimely gaffes.

The season is far from over… It sucks we lost, the oline is a concern. But we are still only 1 game out of 1st place.

We gotta improve. But before the season if you told me 5-3 headed into game 9 I would have taken it. We had a lot of tough road games to start the season.

What matters most is playing good football late in the season and in the playoffs. I think we will be. Get DJ Reed and Kerby back out there.

Hopefully we can add an offensive lineman in the next few days.

We aint dead yet.

That’s my biggest Morton gripe. We have to mind our Ps and Qs significantly better.

Last year’s offense was historic. I’ve seen metrics where it was deemed the best offense of the last decade.

I think replicating that with the current state of the offensive line isn’t likely nor do I believe that Morton stinks because he can’t do it.

I think we’ll win the division going away but the offense isn’t going to look like last year because no offense in the NFL does

Jamo is a 2 headed monster.

The first problem with Jamo is that he wasn’t getting opportunities to make plays as he wasn’t getting the ball. That’s on Morton.

The second problem with Jamo is he sometimes struggles catching the ball when he does get opportunities. That’s on Jamo.

For the exception of the first game, and this game, i think the OL has played very well, and as I said, shockingly well. Thats the point. Anyone who expected this OL to be as good as last season or seasons prior are fooling themselves. There is nothing Brad Holmes can do about it.

Brad drafted OL last year, and drafted OL this year. It’s not like he isn’t trying. He should not “F” those picks. It’s going to take high draft picks to get the best which is what you all are asking for. And there’s nothing that can be done about injuries.

Not every team needs to have an ELITE OL to be successful. Not every great team has the best OL. This falls on the caoches. They need to be better.

I don’t disagree with a lot of what you said. But out OL has to be better for our offense to perform. We’re a timing offense that relies on a lot Goff being able to stand in the pocket and deliver accurate throws and quite often, out of play action.

If we can’t run effectively, play action is not as effective. If Goff doesn’t have time to go through a standard drop or play action and hit his timing routes with accuracy, it’s an issue. So no, not every team needs an ELITE offensive line to be successful. But our offense is absolutely predicated on our OL winning more often than they lose. This year, we’re losing a lot more than we have in the past and that’s part of the reason the offense looks really bad at time.

I agree with everything you said about injuries and Brad’s investment. Unfortunately, there are no quick fixes for this. It’s just gonna take time and it’s going to be rocky for a bit.

I remember when Stafford was here we didn’t have the greatest OL.

We ran most plays from shotgun and used the screen game with RBs to make up for pure running.

Should we switch to that style of offense?

if the O-line has any flaw it starts a domino effect through the whole line, and we cannot function properly.

We have been starting 2 rookies at guard all year.

Glasnow has been descent but is also a huge downgrade from Rags.

Decker has been a gimp all year (even when he plays).

I wish it was just one flaw that was starting a snowball effect but it isn’t. Our offensive line is a friggin mess.
