Ezekiel Turner

The physics of football interests me. I watch this ultra important takedown on 3rd and goal of Jordan Love and I am curious how he managed to turn him face down in the turf that well. Is Love’s arm being leveraged so tight that he has to follow it down to keep it from being broken, like a wrestling move? I’ve watched it a bunch of times and don’t see how he bulldogged him to the ground like that. But it’s impressive.

Mostly steroids. Lots and lots of steroids.

Similar to a straight armbar takedown. Learned it during my days in law enforcement. If he had his right arm on Love’s tricep, it would have resulted in the same thing, maybe not quite the faceplant.

one of the more impressive tackles by a Lion this year. Damn near broke his wrist. Looks like he pulling with his full 240 lbs on Loves wrist into the ground. From wrist to elbow to shoulder to neck to head.

Looking at an LE armbar takedown video, you are exactly right. Except I think if Turner put his right hand as a fulcrum on the back of the upper arm, it would’ve been too obvious and would have gotten a flag. I’m thinking Turner has some wrestling background. Or something. Maybe just instinct

Are armbar takedowns illegal in the NFL? Not aware of that.

I think Turner just tried to take him down instinctively. But maybe he will have to file a use of force report with the league.

To me, it looked like he was attempting to avoid horse collar and/or facemask and grabbing desperately to the only thing he could - beautiful, legal tackle.

Love will learn that not sliding against our defense is poking the Lion with a stick…you’re gonna get bit.

Especially after seeing the video someone posted in here - how some qb’s always fake like he’s going to take the sidelines and then turns it back up field…Coach Dan told the refs before the game that Love does this…and not against us, cuz we’re gonna hit him. ■■■■ 'em …either run with the big dogs or stay on the porch

word - I changed my wording and still left a ‘love’ in there on accident…bottom line…if they’re gonna run against Detroit, expect a massive -but-legal hit

Watching Love’s hand/wrist on that play, I have no idea how it didn’t break.

He has a spot here if we can make it work. Thats whyi dont want lose Aaron Glenn. What a gameplan and use of his resources.

What a masterpiece.

I will tell you, no one appreciates when coaches have a great gameplan and the players execute more then Detroit fans.

Watching the replay, I’m relieved that the officials didn’t use that as a chance to finally throw a flag for a hip-drop tackle

By the rule, it was not a hip-drop tackle. Turner never landed on the back of Love’s legs to get him down. Of course, calling rules as they are written has never stopped the refs from flagging it anyways. Especially in Packer games.
