FA Asante Samuel Jr

Bet they weren’t saying that when he had 3 INTS and 6 PD against the Jaguars in the playoffs

They ended up losing that game but not because of him.

He almost single handledly won that game.

He’s a playmaker . He might get beat here and there but he will make plays.

Honestly a perfect NB for us let Amik slide outside.

Fuller/Rock other CB until our guys are healthy

Maddox NB2 and S3 still

Oh, Asante should be big for the comp pick game if he’s healthy and shows out for us

Yeah, he’s popped a few times, he’s just so inconsistent. His good games are great but his bad games are terrible. He’s like that fantasy player you never know whether to start or not. He’ll go crazy some weeks and completely disappear others.

And let’s not forget he’s literally coming off spinal fusion surgery which is why he hasn’t signed anywhere yet. We need a guy who hits the ground running and I don’t know that he’ll be it.

I was less of an ASJ fan though I didn’t think he stunk. And he’s definitely not ideal stylistically. That being said, my impression of Staley’s defense and coverage schemes is that they are viewed as unnecessarily complicated and difficult on young defenders.

Well yes, his health goes without saying. That’s first and foremost for everyone

Could be, I know there were plenty of complaints about it.

Even if he passes this upcoming scan in October, that just means he can play football again, not that he’ll be ready to. Based on the way we’ve done things in the past, I’m pretty sure we’d give him a month or so to ramp up, then ease him in. And at that point, what good is he to us?

Same good your boy Davenport will be !

Eh, he’ll be able to hit the ground running when he gets back at least, though I agree that couldn’t have come at a worst time for my take that he’s no more injury prone than most guys. I still think it’s mostly just awful luck, but I’m well aware I’m on my own with that take.

At least it didn’t cost us in the comp pick game. For a mil a year I can live with it. I actually prefer to hold him out until December so it’s perfect scenario for me regarding Davenport.

If we can get Asante in healthy soon , he will be up to speed in a month or so I’d hope.

Rock, Amik, Fuller, Maddox until then

That’s what I would do

This is provided of course the scan says he’s good to go. That operation was in April. Most seem to think there’s a good chance they may tell him “it’s healing well, you should be good to go in 6 months.” I honestly think there’s a less than 2% chance he’s a potential answer. Even if the scans say he’s good to go now, I think by the time he’s ready to contribute Reed would be back anyway.

The other guys, sure.

Poor guy, that really sucks for Asante.

But yes this is all hypothetical depending on his health and recovery

We have a giant shitpile of cap space. Use it.

Hasn’t fuller also played some S?

Ok hear me out….

Sign CJGJ and muzzle him. Put him opposite J KERB and slide branch to nickel.

I’d be for this. But I’m damn near certain that it’s not even being considered.

Kind of. I don’t think Pickens is a glass eater. Ducey is. He’s tough as nails. But he’s also significantly more insane than Pickens. But he’s seemingly always playing until the conference Championship game. :man_shrugging:

Thank goodness it is not being considered

Don’t need him anywhere near our locker room

I mean… we did make the NFCCG last time he was near our locker room. And the Eagles made 2 Super Bowls… won one and lost one. I think the guy’s crazy too, but he plays hard and wins.

He didn’t contribute much for us but ok

Let’s anoint Mike Danna the great too. He plays hard and wins a ton of Super Bowls
